Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon stayed on the Billboard top 200 list for 884 weeks which equates to 17 years. No other album will ever do that! A album for the ages!

This album surpassed technology haha. When the CD came out, this album shot back up on album sales and the same was true once downloading music was a thing. It wouldn't shock me if Floyd is still raking in a ton of money right now.

I grew up in a record store. I started working there when I was 12 or 13. Every week I did inventory of albums on hand. I would go down the Billboard Top 200 list and mark them off. Did this for several years. Dark Side was on the list every week. Every. Week.

i'm 62 yrs.old i remember me and my brothers sitting in our room listening to this whole album the day we brought it home from the record store.YES i said record store .remember those ?sat there smoking joints and listening to Floyd . aghh ! those were the day's .

Listening to Pink Floyd is an experience. An experience. You were struggling early listening because you tried to find a neat little box to put this music into, and there isn’t one that exists. You had preconceived notions that you have musical wisdom and tried analyzing the music as it played on. It stumped you. You robbed yourself of the real experience. Roger Waters, the bass player and mastermind of all the lyrics and most of the music said he only cares about how the music makes people feel. You have to listen to Pink Floyd with an open mind and check your wisdom at the door. Just experience it and when it’s done, then try to figure out what you just experienced. If you can’t pull that off, you’ll never appreciate Pink Floyd.

I am of the opinion that no one completely "gets" this album during their first experience. To me, it gets better with every listen, there's always something new to hear. A true masterpiece in rock history.

Rick Wright was sooooo under appreciated & overlooked!!! He was my favorite of the 4. When he pasted away my heart sank knowing we’d never see a reunion. I always held onto a lil hope RIP Rick

My thoughts exactly. Clare Tory’s singing on Great Gig in the Sky is great, but Rick Wright’s beautiful composition (he composed it) and playing are often overlooked. Props to the reviewer for hearing and appreciating it.

I totally agree with the comments on Wright. Another crucial thing he injected into their music was his classical background. He valued the "quiet before the storm" in music & Floyd's music regularly used that. Or as "Rat" said, "waiting for the change"... aka building tension & anticipation. Which is rarely done these days (or in those days for that matter).

"Abducted by the music", never heard that one...and its classic. So damn true.

It's an album you really need to be patient with listening to. Just lay down listen to the music, and focus on the different sounds. There is a lot of build up, between each song and in each song, and you just gotta immerse yourself in it. It’s great weed, and psychedelic music. It’s a difficult album to do a reaction to for that reason. One of the best albums of all time, and my favorite thing about it is the way each song flows right into the other. The “dizziness” your describing is a what is called a natural high.

An album you can listen to a 1000 times and continue to hear something new, there are so many sounds going on it is astounding. One of the marvels of modern production and will be studied for as long as people have ears.

Next is the "Wish You Were Here" album.

Poor white working class in England, You wont be able to get how it inspired us in the 70's to see above the clouds. But Im glad you get some of it, The same way I get some American rap. More in common than apart, Peace dude.

Dizzying... No.. Nauseous... No... Trance... Mesmerizing. That's the word you were looking for.

If you are worried about missing a change when stopping, simply restart 5-10 seconds back. Can't speak for others, but I'm a PF reaction junkie to hear what emotions and feelings people experience when listening. This will be different for each person, and that is what is interesting. Send more Floyd! Edit: It was mixed by Alan Parsons.

I’m glad you mentioned the mix and engineering of this album. Everything about this album, from the writing and performance down to the technical aspects of putting it down on magnetic tapes, is exquisitely crafted. Nothing else has yet come close to the sheer brilliance that is this album. One for the ages.

The engineer of this album was Alan Parsons, he also helped engineer abbey road by the Beatles as well as having a very successful solo career. One of his most popular songs is called "eye in the sky" check it out

and THIS is why you listen to a floyd album back to back rather than single tracks, they all blend and bleed into each other to form a painting it's great, floyd albums really put things into perspective for me when i need a reality check or i clean my house with it on my record player, i emotionally zone out for a bit doing the dishes so it makes my life easier 😂

Hey you,,,I was the person who left the comment below this one. I just watched you listening to Pink Floyd’s..Dark side of the moon” Super Dope is for real! Back in the middle 1970’s you should of been hanging in my basement listening to this with me and my peeps. Talk about mind blowing🤪 In 1975 we went to one of their concerts at Olympia Stadium in the “D” and they were told they weren’t welcomed back ever again to Detroit. The light show was to much for the wimps of the city!! Every song has a different feel to it. David Gilmour is phenomenal even to this day!! There’s one song you should listen to it’s “Wish you were here”. It was written for Syd Barrett who started the band but had a breakdown and never returned. The guys in the band wrote that song for him. Now that’s a dope song!! Every song Floyd does is different from the last one ☝️. You’re were right..it’s like you’ve been abducted. The album is a masterpiece, but for me "time" is the best song. It might even be the best song I've ever heard, and it's one that becomes more special as you get older.

This album is a treasure, the sick blues based guitar riffs, mind bending vocals, profound lyrics and sublime sax parts are rarely paralleled in music...The engineer for this album Alan Parsons has some exquisite stuff too!

It's not far ahead at all... It's completely out of time. DSTOM is simply referenced as The Album when we talk about Space Time objects. The Universe exist just for the purpose of this album. Thousands of generations died before us just to complete the Great Plan.

Every sound effect, screech, distortion, boom, crash, voice over, waver of note and woorble, in piano or synth - or any other instrument for that matter - THAT YOU HEAR in todays music has their roots in this album (or other Pick Floyd albums, like WYWH, or Animals, MEDDLE, and The Wall). Anyone of any importance in the music industry will acknowledge the effect and impact this album has had on their own music. PF started it all and did SO MUCH for the future of music in 1972/3 by releasing this album, that its impact will never be fully known or quantified, IMO !!!

Listening to this album one evening, specifically "On the Run", made me question if I was even listening to a song, which led to wonder, what is music anyway? That's what this album is for, pondering the great questions of life. Great video as always 👍

@@garryiglesias4074 In fact, i've got my own personnal list of "albums" / music that is/are with this album (not a fact, a choice, matter of personnal opinion, in the "sapce/time continuum"), but, this is "my" perception. Everybody has one. As... etc.

Thank you very much for revisiting Pink Floyd. Their fans (myself included) can occasionally become almost too passionate. The "Big 4" albums from Pink Floyd: "The Dark Side Of The Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "Animals", and "The Wall" are definitely best listened to straight through, if possible. For their other 11 studio albums, it's not nearly as important. If you love the guitars, be sure to listen to David Gimour's solo work. His live performance videos "Live In Gdansk" (2006) and "Live At Pompeii" (2016) are incredible.

That's for posting this. You worked your ass of editing this classic album and the first of it's kind. After this they started calling them concept albums. Do your self a favor and watch the video Pulse where they perform the Dark side of the Moon in its entirety live absolutely AWESOME....

"It paralyzes time and removes me from my body." were the words I jotted down after listening to this album in its entirety for the first time whilst toasted to the gills on weed and mushrooms. It's a 43 minute long song and one of the most beautiful things ever recorded.

If your looking for another Pink Floyd album - Animals

The great thing about this album is you can listen a hundred times and you'll still pull something meaningful from it.

It's like you walked into a museum to check out one particular masterpiece, and every little day-to-day thing popped up to distract you. But you hung in there, you put in the time and the effort. Good job.

I know you got beat up for your previous Pink Floyd reviews, but I know you didn't know how passionate the fans are. This album is a masterpiece, and was on the billboard top 200 for 17 years straight!. Longest in history, no one comes close. I hope you are beginning to understand. I know you are still learning..

Finally. Someone who understands that you need decent headphones to really get the Floyd. Also have another legend on the wall behind you. I've spent countless hours listening to both. Enjoy your journey.

For some odd reason, this album makes me cry. I bought it when it was first released, listening to it through my dad's headphones on his old Hi-Fi. Over time, I think we can all point to musical compilations that go down in history as some of the greatest on earth. For me, this is one of those albums. I have so many memories that go with these tracks: summers with friends on Mt. Diablo, parties at Strawberry Lake, road trips to the head shop in Hayward along the Old Road. It's great to watch you experience the album through headphones just the way I did nearly 50 years ago. Some things (wonderfully) never change. :) P.S. I think you gave me your cold.

The thing that always amazes me about this album is that the sounds and instrumentation were all produced without computers and digital technology. Plus it flows just beautifully. Pink Floyd is a sonic journey every time. Dave Gilmour is the main singer and guitar player.He’s in his early 70s now & still tours and totally kicks ass!

Eyes closed, a good buzz in a dark room. Love this album. ✌️

Nick Mason is my very favorite drummer. That rolling beat just on the lazy end of all of the beats, and perfectly healthy fills when needed. Not a show-off. But in the spotlight for sure. I LOVE HIM

My man your review was spot on. You really couldn't articulate what you were feeling, other than it was emotional and moved you. Thats what music is all about

As someone from that early era it is interesting to witness the context for this guy's listening experience compared to how a lot of us older guys received Pink Floyd back then. For us hallucinogens weren't too far removed as being part of the experience of this genre of music even if we weren't taking while listening. It was about the "trip" Pink Floyd's music was taking us on. In a way, quite naive of us but where I see confusion in this guy's initial take I remember feelings of anticipation and the rush as we experienced our journey down the rabbit hole. And then of course it became about the music and it was sublime and almost unexpected.

Love this album, absolute masterpiece of sound engineering.

Just try not to do it during the guitar solo. Soon as the break hits , stop review then go back a little .Then you never miss anything.Little tip from your uncle Tim. This shit is a classic , very nice.

We'll there 's no legitimate time to stop a Vinyl side... The only break on the blueprint is between the Great Gig and Money... And it's just for you to turn the disc, maybe stretch a little bit, pack his pouf, and that's it.

He is incredibly intelligent to realize on his first listen to just let it go and not speak for the sake of missing whats next.This took me dozens of listens and years...

Yep, he was reacting and sharing in the moment, for the entire album. A rather heavy dose to not expect someone to speak or breathe to for it's entirety.

Stumbled into your reaction saw you were doing Dark Side of the Moon, grabbed my Reposado Tequila sat back and enjoyed the ride. This album never fails to evoke an emotional response as I absorb all the music, lyrics, nuances, and majesty that is DSOTM. This album, along with "Wish You Were Here" achieve the rare feat of displacing time as one listens to it. The music takes you on a journey and you wish it would never end.(the tequila is now in control). Look forward to your next Pink Floyd reaction, you're in for a helluva ride.

This album is meant to be listened to in one sitting. It takes you on a trip through life from birth "Breath" to death . You kinda got the jist of it .Best album ever in my opinion. thanks for posting this I enjoy other people's reaction you were taken on a trip through the circle of life.

Whether you do it for a video or just for yourself kicking back on the couch, I strongly suggest the Wish You Were Here album in its entirety. It was also made to all blend together and I actually prefer it over dark side of the moon but that’s just my preference. it’s a heavily emotional album and you can really feel every bit of it. Just a suggestion, you won’t regret it

Half way through the album you seem to have solved the 'stopping the music' issue. Don't. Just talk over it, as and when it comes to mind.

Slippin into the Floyd void. Don't worry. Soon you will be compelled to listen.

I think you'd really enjoy "The Wall", the story, in two album form (or motion picture, with all the music) of a British rock musician, his emotional entanglements, estrangements, isolation, and breakdown. If somebody tells you to watch "The Wall" drunk or stoned, don't listen, you'd miss so very many references and so much symbolism.

Dark Side of the Moon 🌙 will forever be a timeless classic, for an album made in 1973 with no computers, sounds effects and mixed to perfection. On the top 100 billboard for 18 years, absolutely incredible 👏 take a bow Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd has a lot of variety in their albums. Pink Floyd only recently clicked with me and I've just been binging through their back catalog. I've only heard 5 pink Floyd Albums so far but I'd love a reaction to pink Floyd's album Piper at the gates of dawn

All Pink Floyds albums are fantastic.

Nice reaction to this amazing album! It'd be amazing to see you do their Wish You Were Here album next. Even if you've hear Shine on part 1 already just do it all together when you have time. Their Animals album is amazing too. If you listen to this on CD or vinyl there aren't any clicks between songs. They transition seamlessly.

"I feel like I'm listening to a movie..." may be the finest reaction to this album I've ever heard. Now sync it up with "The Wizard of Oz" to really drive that point home. Seriously. Thanks for your review and your time! One more thought (not directly to this reaction) is how difficult it is for anyone listening to the music of this era to ask the question "What kind of music is this?" Not all music, perhaps even the best music, cannot be so easily categorized. The creative process then was different and people were not trying to compose music in a box, but from a sense of exploration and responding to what was in his or her soul.

This was made at a time (no pun intended) when you couldn't use a computer for your sounds. All those clocks had to be set and synchronized to go off at the exact same time. It took the band a whole weekend to get it right. You should watch 'the making of 'Dark side of the moon' to get an idea of the work involved in recording this timeless masterpiece. David Gilmour said his biggest disappointment was, "not hearing the album for the first time." How lucky we were that we could.

This is the most listen to album in history no other album will ever beat it. IT'S AWESOME 😊❤😊❤😊❤😊 YOU CAN FEEL IT IN YOUR SOUL.

1 of the greatest albums front to back all time. 17 straight years the album was in the top 100. Will never b done again. Someone needs to sync this wit the wizard of Oz. Start the album on the lions 3rd roar at the beginning of the movie. So many coincidences that it will blow your mind!!! The screaming during the tornado, black, black lyrics when the witch appears to the songs money & lunitic on the grass.

The "heartbeat" you hear at the beginning is the same "heartbeat" at the end. It loops around and starts all over again. Cool, huh?

Im still blown away by the pure skill Pink Floyd produced whit the music, 46 years after release of this album, still other musicians don’t have a clue what they are doing 👍🏻 Now try give The Wall a listen, its more mean stream, meany may not like it, but i think its a masterpiece, not as much as this, but its freaking epic as well

im so glad you gave this a listen, a lot of the things you said about this album would be great t-shirt quotes for floyd. im glad your videos show how we can stereotype people and place people into groups who only like this music or that music like its a war and we have to fight for our genre when in reality all music is art that can be appreciated by anyone with an open mind. i hate hearing people say this song sucks, that band sucks or this music is inferior about any music even if its not to my tastes, i appreciate the thought that goes into the lyrics for rap and the effort and vocal training that goes into screamo metal even though I'm not fond of many songs in either of those genres i can still see the artists hard work and feeling behind their work. thanks for a great video

Pink Floyd's The Wall next please!

I remember about 3 years ago when i was 18 listening to this album in its entirety for the first time (I had already heard breath, time, money, and brain damage), to say it changed my life would be a fair statement. Whenever I'm feeling any sort of emotion, whether it be happiness or sadness, when I play this album from start to finish it just elevates me into a new space, something I can't explain. There are very few albums you can listen from start to finish over and over again with it still feeling fresh, I hope Pink Floyd's music lives on forever.

i`v e been listening to this since the 1980`s and it still speaks to me, you are right, you can`t give a reaction after listening to it for the first time, but you are now on the journey, my friend !
