Really appreciate your pinewood Derby videos! Can’t find #4 where you talk about wheel prep...is it hiding or still in production? Thanks!

I'm editing it, had to do several different clips for that one and it's quite a bit longer. Should get it up this week though!

Q-tips yes. Hob-e-lube is the 2nd fastest graphite you can get and most common used. To Polish the wheel use novus #2 (the container store) or whitening toothpaste do 2 rounds. If it squeaks go slow enough to see the rotation. If not u can go a hair faster. Let toothpaste dry then buff off with pipe cleaner, then add graphite.
do you have to use ultra fine graphite

You don't have to, but I have had better luck with the ultra fine.
Did I miss the step on milling the inside of the wheel?

Most rules will not allow inner wheel milling. If you have an unlimited or outlaw class it's typically allowed. Check your rules!

@@technicolorchristmas I'm very familiar with this fact, but some races (e.g. Mid-America) do allow it. I was asking because it was mentioned in the video.

I need to shoot that again, maybe before this next season.
I can’t find a-tips that will fit inside the wheel hub. Did they change the wheels since you made the video?

We use standard Q-Tip brand from Johnson and Johnson in the blue box. I do run them in a paper towel filled with graphite before I try to insert into the wheels and I believe this narrows the diameter a bit. It should be a snug but not tight fit.

@@technicolorchristmas It might not be a bad idea to take a sacrificial wheel and force the q-tip stem through the bore of this wheel to get it to the right diameter before using for polishing.
