Pinegrove is a twangy indie band who fuse Americana, emo, and indie rock into an insightful finished product. Singer and lyricist Evan Hall is a contemplative, serene frontman who possesses an intimate relationship with and an expansive knowledge of the human language. He’s acutely aware of the human experience and manages to pen astute observations about self and circumstance with genuine wonder. Though sonically somber, there is a kinetic forward focus in Pinegrove’s sound that lifts up each unconventional arrangement and unfettered chorus.

"If I did what I wanted then why do I feel so bad?" that hit hard.
"We had some good ideas but we never left that fucking room" Just perfect
When he sings "Fine you're right, but I wonder what it feels like" - musical perfection right there.

Yes. That line is so heavy.
It's incredible how they like wander around BPMs and tones, but still all stick together. It's like when an acoustic artist speeds up and changes all over the place because they're playing on their own and that's easy enough, but to be able to stay in time with a whole band doing that is incredible. And the song is amazing too.

7 years of listening to this song and it still feels like the first time. Everything So Far is a masterpiece, they've only developed since then. Perfection. Anything Evan sings is perfection, but Pinegrove slaps in the lyrics department. Absolute poetry.
I'm obsessed with this song, but can never decide exactly how it makes me feel. It's like... happy and sad, all at once? Just this huge wall of nameless emotion. I almost want to ask them, "How does this song make you feel when you play it?"

They'd probably say the same. Evan has a lot of talent when it comes to writing lyrics that are simultaneously objectively and ambiguously relatable.

Same. I feel It All
the emotion is so fucking eminent in his face; you can see, hear and, feel the pain, anger, sorrow and, contemplation he was feeling whenever he wrote this song. and the dictation he uses is so fitting and strong and powerful, it’s musical perfection all in one song.
This song has one of the best lyrics I ever heard.

I keep coming back, there's just something about this live.
They nailed this performance.
pinegrove is one of my favorite bands, size of the moon is my fave song by them, and the audiotree recording is my favorite version ♥ gosh this song just makes me FEEEELLL things.
That transition to fingerpicking at 0:29-31 was sick
"i wanna visit the future and dance in a field of light"
The chords in this song are SO funky, but audiotree's is my favorite recording/performance of this song i've heard ♥
Pure poetry for a struggling artist/human in general 🥺
"what if we could wake up in five years and things would be feeling alright?"
This song is so beautiful it hurts

Do you wanna dance? Fine. but do you remember when In your living room When we made some room & moved ourselves around in it? It's how my heart resumed. I got caught/ you got those caravaggio moves We had some good ideas but we never left that fucking room Do you wanna talk? Fine. i'll talk it out with my dad It's always nice what he says He'll have some good advice from something in a book he read If i did what i wanted then why do i feel so bad? Would you like a drink While we wait for everything To get good again? We're good at things & so are a lot of our friends We should forget these set backs and get back moving again I dont know what I'm afraid of But i'm afraid One day it all Will fall away Maybe i read that But still, let's see If nothing else it's an idle curiosity So would you like that drink? Fine, yea i know. i remember that too In your living room, right? When we began to fight but then we both got confused Then we were laughing & crying in awe of the size of the moon Do you want to die? Fine you're right But i wonder what it feels like To stop feelin so alive What if we could wake up in five years and things'd be feelin alright? I wanna visit the future and dance in a field of light!
Amazing feeling, lyrics, performance, what a great band!!!

The singer and the drummer were the founders. I think the guitar player is also a permanent member. The rest come and go, and a couple of them are members of the band Half Waif (also check them out).
