“Pin Practice”to “Sunshine”- hip fracture (acetabulum)

Ойын-сауық

Footage ain’t great but this is it in the raw. It is what it is. The pain was making me feel like passing out so I turned off camera. I ain’t passin out on GoPro like a punk bitch. Words can’t describe the gratitude I feel towards the ppl who helped evac me from that canyon. 3+hrs of carrying my 220lb ass up steep shitty trail wasn’t easy. Love y’all

I fractured my humeral head and sustained a right shoulder SALP injury in col. dicks...got a bit complacent after Sunshine. I had one bud that could help me hike out, and I didn't think I could make it with the help of only one person...pain was unlike anything I've ever felt or could imagine feeling. I opted to "paddle" down to toilet bowl and hike out from there. Back in the early 90's, I'd seen a couple of guys who had no business being on that river basically float and careen that section after walking everything in the gorge, and I figured with one arm I could do better than they did...and they survived...and if I died, at least the pain would be over. It was the first time I thought that stretch was long and never ending, and it was brutal. I feel for you brother. My shoulder healed well enough for a few NFFB and Section IV trips before tweaking it again on an easy low-brace above submarine. I realized that it would likely lead to something bad if I kept pushing it...and thus it ended my whitewater boating career right then and there. I hope you have made a full recovery and are still able to paddle what you want to paddle. And to those who are still young and healthy and dropping in...enjoy every minute of it and don't take a single day on the river for granted.

So, dude, glad you're ok minus the hip...been there. What caused the fracture, the rock creating the rooster tail in teh slot when your GoPro moved?

Yes, I was too far left and ricocheted into gnarly spray rock on right. Impact on side of boat did it.
