Piloting Boeing 737-200 Yellowknife to Edmonton
JustPlanes on the Flightdeck of the Canadian North (First Air) Boeing 737-200 for a flight from Yellowknife Airport to Edmonton. Pilots start with a presentation of a walkaround of the classic Boeing 737 which has some interesting features, you are then seated in the cockpit for the takeoff and landing on this pretty dusk flight.

This beast is one of very few planes that can use its reverse thrusters to do a full pushback without any assistance. Love, love the 737-200!

Not entirely correct. First of all, the pushback that the aircraft performs on its own is called a powerback. Nearly every plane can do a powerback but most of them don't do it for safety reasons. A powerback on propeller-driven aircraft isn't too unusual. Aircraft with jet engines doing a powerback are rare (B727, DC9, MD80, Fokker 100, C17,...) and most of them have high-mounted engines. Only the 737-100 and 200 have low-mounted jet engines and can do safely a powerback. So this beast is one of very few low-mounted jet engine driven aircraft which can do a powerback without any danger to aircraft and ground crew. If the aforementioned aircraft do a powerback depends on the airlines and airports procedures.

The 717 can also do it, and airlines like delta, hawaiian, and qantaslink still use it. However, it is unsafe to do that, and any airliner can do a powerback. Even the new 737-max.
All dials, no rolling gps map, no fbw - real pilots. Kudos!
If in a dream I could chose between flying the 737-200 and a 787, I would definitively go for the -200.

I've never been disappointed with a Canadian-crewed JP video. This video has a detailed walk-around and cockpit presentation. Some of the pilot views of take offs and landings are really beautiful. If you are interested in the classic 737, get this one. I go back to this one often.

Because they were the first 737 variants in the world, there so iconic and you can’t really see them out and about like a -700 or -800. They are very rare!

@@minerplayz9842 because they are the DC-3s of the jet age. Old but tough as nails and extremely reliable. Pilots love them because they are old school and demand good handflying skills to operate. Automation is rudimentary compared to the modern glass cockpit 737s and no autothrottles. The only replacement for a 737-200 is indeed another 737-200!

AH! I was wondering if you had a nav display screen to help you see the route, and not have to fly VOR only. ILS is great to use on landing.
