Pilot - It's Magic • TopPop

Музыка

"Magic" is a 1974 song by Scottish pop rock band Pilot, and was the first hit single for the group. It was written by band members David Paton and Billy Lyall for their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name.
Pilot were a Scottish rock group, formed in 1973 in Edinburgh by David Paton and Billy Lyall. They are best known for their songs "January", "Magic", "Just A Smile" and "Call Me Round".
Both Paton and Lyall had briefly been substitute members of the Bay City Rollers before that band's breakthrough. Joined by drummer Stuart Tosh, the band recorded several demos during 1972 and 1974. They were signed to a management contract with Nick Heath and Tim Heath, sons of British bandleader Ted Heath, and John Cavanagh. In due course they signed to a worldwide recording deal with EMI Records. After the recording of their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name, guitarist Ian Bairnson (who had played on the album as a session musician) joined the band permanently.
The 1974 single "Magic" from their first album, produced by Alan Parsons and written by Lyall and Paton, was a No. 11 UK and No. 5 US success. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. in August 1975.

Rolling Stones played in Buffalo, NY 6 times Led Zeppelin 2 times, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Aerosmith, The Who, The Clash, Doobie Brothers, the producers even got Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was cool almost every band opened saying HELLO BUFFALO. To bad they couldn't get David Cassidy. This was at Buffalo Bills Stadium 75,000 fans. I wonder if Im living in the past still listening to these songs. Im 58 & still have my IRISH Freckels on my face. I didn't want to go to grade school my entire face was covered with Freckels, or as the IRISH say ANGEL KISSES.

People dont realize when we were kids we didnt know what people looked like who sang. Probably why we stared at album covers while listening to music imagining what was happening when they recorded.

I feel bad for these groups that had the one hit and after that it’s a case of, “ whatever happened to that band with the hit...you know...‘It’s magic? Remember them?” They show up on KZread 50 years later.

Lots of their work can be heard on Alan Parsons Project albums. (He actually produced this song as well.) David Paton sung lead vocals on many tracks, Ian Bairnson did pretty much all the guitar parts and even Stuart Tosh played drums on the first records. Paton and Bairnson also appear on early Kate Bush records.

As corny as this song is, it gives Me this feeling. It’s suppose to be a poppy senseless tune but it’s deep. It’s like we can find the magic in life, we don’t have to live a dual life that is redundant and mundane. We can decide to create magical moments that make it worth it. That’s what this song speaks to me. I’ve been real depressed for awhile, so this song cheers me up. Even bringing me to tears because it’s like life can be special it can be a dream it doesn’t have to be boring and so disciplined. Learn to have fun.
