Free running of bearing diminishes as the pressed steel housing is tightened

cheep pillow blocks will do this as the case deforms as you tighten down the nuts.. to stop this and retain the freeroll of the bearing(and its life) place a flat square(or normal) washer between the bottom and top portions of the block. this will retain the spacing and shape of the pillow block, also saveing the wear life of the bearing itself.

Lowe's and depot have these type they are around $6 each
