i know people like to complain about tutorials and difficulty reduction, but i really hope people understand how VITAL the newcomer accessibility was to pikmin 4 and its success. its gameplays is strange and unique, the 10 year gap made the game even more obscure, and holy heck the amount of times ive heard people not pick up pikmin just cause they feared a time limit/the stress is too much to count. now that we have a bunch of new comers, we can be comfortable with the future of this series :))

as a newcomer that started like 2-3 weeks ago, going in almost blind is probably the best and worst thing i could’ve done but definitely enhanced the experience (especially with the creature discovery part i LOVE that kind of stuff)

Agree I started around pikmin 3(W game btw) so I basically knew most of the pikmin traits and abilities. My friend however was scared the Red pikmin would die to a fiery blowhog

I personally never got into Pikmin until 4. Just... the idea of a time limit always horrified me. Now I'm playing Pikmin 4 and I freaking love it. Despite the massive frustration and panic at all of the time limited puzzles. Also I'm terrible at Dandori. I just throw Pikmin at everything and pray that it works. Usually does. In real life my Dandori Skills are completely nonexistent. That's life with ADHD😅

Can confirm that I grew up playing Pikmin, my favorite franchise, and I have yet to miss a year of my taxes as an adult. Coincidence? I'd rather not think about it. Dandori is a lifestyle, and this might be a new favorite GetMadz video. (not biased at all.)

I find it so funny that the more cutesy an Nintendo franchise is, the darker is the lore, just look at Pikmin, Pokémon or Kirby Also, there are 3 franchises that take place in an post apocaliptic world, that being Pikmin, Kirby and Splatoon

As an 'old person' in their mid 20s, who experienced pikmin 1 & 2, honestly it's just really nice to see the love for this franchise is still alive. And the sub level motif in the video is just really cute too

I thought this was gonna be a whole video pointing out that pikmin can be frickin *horrifying* and probably shouldn’t have that pegi 3 (the lowest possible rating) it has here in Europe. I mean, carrying literal enemy corpses to your base aside, a good chunk of the enemies have given me heart attacks through either trying to figure out how to kill them, or just spawning in in the first place. (I’m not complaining, mind you, just confused)

Pikmin 4 isn't necessarily a reset of timeline! In an interview with one of the games main developers he states that where it is in the timeline is up to each individual person. Pikmin 4's story is exactly that! Depending on the angle and perspective you look at it, you can place it at different points in the timeline!

My man just stood in a cave for a bit, then moved on without collecting anything. Seems like bro has a bit of a... *D A N D O R I I S S U E*

You can also look at it like a dark perspective. You are a commander of 100 little Pikmin, worthless if on their own, and you need to fulfill your needs while preventing others from stopping you, and that can take a really dark turn when you lose every single one of you Pikmin by throwing them at a weird angle.

"Why would the characters look so cute" So their screams of agony as they are being crushed and eaten alive hit you as hard as an 18 wheeler hits a 6 year old

The Dandori memes have unironically given me motivation to make me do things in life, thanks Pikmin

There's so much to love about Pikmin 4, but one of the best parts is that it brought the series back to life. (In the public eye at least.) So many new people have started playing and loving Pikmin in the past couple months, myself included. You nailed all the most important aspects of why these games are so awesome, and I totally agree that 4 is still a rich and deep experience despite an easier difficulty level. Terrific job with this one! Every time I think you've peaked with your animation and editing, you make something even better with the next video!!

It's also worth noting that the upgrades are optional. You can pick and match whatever you want to have to customize the experience. This is also helped by the fact that the same resources used for upgrades have practical use in the actual gameplay.

So far, the only Pikmin game I haven’t played as of now (I’m on the later end of Gen Z) is Pikmin 1. The first one I ever played was Pikmin 2. I’ve loved this game ever since, and I truly love that Nintendo is giving this franchise another chance after 10 years, even giving it more advertisements. I can confirm, Pikmin is a game of sadness and tragedy.

I love family-friendly media that isn't afraid to bring up dark themes and casually mention death, gotta be one of my favorite genders.

I was one of those guys who played pikmin 3 when I was like 6 and waited all this time to get pikmin 4. I wasn’t even around when the first 2 games came out lol

Pikmins are the cutest designs ever

I was 19 when the first game came out in 2001. Fell for the concept well before release, remember Nintendo sending me a pamphlet about Pikmin as I was subscribed to Nintendo Power at the time. When I bought a GCN winter 2001 Pikmin was one of the first games I went for and I really adored it. 2 was also good but one always was my go to. 3 was the first physical release I got for my Wii U after I got a new job and built up some money. Loved that right away as well. And 4 was just great. If there is a Pikmin 5 I hope I don't have to wait till I am 50 before I get to play it.

7:35 we actually don't know where/when pikmin 4 takes place, theres a ton of evidence point to both sides (side 1. Being it takes place after 3, and side 2. Being it takes place in a seperate timeline when 1 took place)

dude, pikmin 4 changed my life-now with dandori I'm getting perfect scores in school and bearly missing any asignments. I'm in awe at how much it genuinely made me more productive, it's ridiculous. pikmin 4 builds character for real, or maybe it's just me.

I love this video, it was amazing, and it's exactly how I've always been trying to explain Pikmin to people (Side note, just wanna say that Pikmin 3 *deluxe* is by far the easiest in my opinion, idk why they made it so much easier)

I began playing Pikmin 3 in 2013 when I was 5, im now 15 and still keep playing the funy plant series

"Why are the Pikmin so cute?" To make it hurt more when they die horribly because you failed them, but without the need to make the violence graphic when they're getting eaten alive. (Seriously, if that wasn't a deliberate design decision I very much doubt they'd have been doing that ghost particle effect whenever a Pikmin died) It's sort of reversal of the way Digimon (at least Gen 1 digimon) were specifically designed to not be overly cute, so that it wouldn't feel too sad when you had your virtual pets fight someone else's (Which is something there is direct evidence of, since Kenji Watanabe explicitly stated that was his reasoning for the designs when he was making them in an interview for the 20th anniversary art book)

as someone who's been playing pikmin since i was 3 years old, accessing the internet and lore theories about the game at 5, i was used to the darker aspects of it, it's kind of funny! but other than that, i love the way this video is formatted, it just flows, gives my brain the happy chemicals. the concept of using dandori in real life is a really good conclusion to come to and by figuring it out in not just pikmin 4, but all the games, could/would really help people with their everyday work.

I'm still baffled by how so many people don't know the differences for the "theres" and the "toos." It's such an odd, funny phenomenon. 😂 I could never get into Pikmin. I remember seeing them floating around since I was an older kid. They didn't appeal to me, though. Might have tk revisit them now lol.

As a pikmin veteran I felt my gut drop when I was playing the night time mode. and that dammed smoky prog spawned….

The characters of pikmin look so cute, and its an elaborate child trap, 9 year old me is forever scarred by the unspeakable losses incurred against the bulbears in the distant spring, the sound of pikmin dying is forever burned into my memory, reminding my of my sins and making it feel like it was my fault for their demise.

I love pikmin, I was a fan before pikmin 4 and a little bit after pikmin 3

I immediately knew pikmin would be a you type game

my history with Pikmin is intresting i tried 1 & 2 on the wii with the New Play Control, but i had no clue on what i was doing (please note that i am from 1996, but the wii was the first console we ever owned) in Smash Bros Brawl, Olimar was a character i returned to several times, since his playstyle was unique and i liked how he looks i skipped on Pikmin 3 (bad memories from trying 1 & 2) at first i didn't want to do anything with Pikmin 4 but then i decided to the demo, not only to try the game, but also to use the character creator (i'm a sucker for character creators (heck i like Sonic Forces because of it)) and now i have the game 100% completed (in everything except those side missions)
