SAME. Despite my bitching while doing it, I actually find the Submerged Castle a fun time. Some of the Dream Den sublevels....not so much.

Yeah the submerged castle is really fun once you know how to speed through it and lure the waterwraith away from your pikmin by splitting up your leaders. Getting lucky with sub level layout generation also helps lol

Submerged Castle has slowly become one of the fan favorites actually It has a really unique atmosphere and gimmick that leads to a really memorable cave, which is something Pikmin 2 MAJORLY lacks If you want most hated caves go to wistful wild

Possible reason for wraith not spawning in perplexing pool, apparently the foliage takes up a lot of memory for the level and thus if you mod enemies in you have to be careful of crashes.

Someone needs a hug after this mod. And some therapy. I dunno who, but someone has some issues they need to work through. With hugs. And therapy.

I watched the intro and went "oh. Oh, I see. OH. WHY?? WHO HURT YOU??"

Perplexing pool has a problem with entity overload in mods because of the number of plants on the map. Your pal probably couldn’t do anything about it without it crashing.

God, Majula is such a great song. Oh, and congrats on beating yet another maniacal challenge

I wouldn't even say it's "hated" more like it's notorious for it's unique gimmick that induces fear and anxiety through the use of an unstoppable, unkillable monster. They don't even show a timer until when the WR appears creating a heightened sense of anxiety. By no means it's not a hard cave. It's just very memorable because of the constant state of panic you get put in. (Punctuated by the statement that the ship makes when it first appears telling you the only thing you can do is run where up to this point all enemies have been killable.) It's also memorable because of the "revenge" you get to take on it and it feels so cathartic. It's really no wonder they remade this cave for Pikmin 4... I mean they didn't do as good of a job I think, but still goes to show its infamy. Also: Thank you Salem in the comments.

I cant stop imagining when the water wraith drives past the empress bulbear that it makes "Meep Meep" noises.

i mean, realistically. wouldn't it make sense for the water wraths to crush Every pikmin that was carrying the treasure, not just the ones under it? because the wrath's fat massive rollers and gelatinous body just jumped up on this treasure suddenly and they didn't let go of the treasure... them arms are getting ripped off or their legs are getting compressed by a hydraulic press 🤔🤔

Delving into the world of mods unlocks so many new ideas!

I just remembered something that might help you out, or those willing to do this challenge. There is a really good glitch with the ultra spicy spray. If you play your cards right you can actually make the pikmin go at light speed carrying treasures (eats up a lot of spicy spray though, one of those more you do it the faster you go). Some speedruns use it to bypass gates that they normally cannot break.

These challenges make me so sad! I'd love to see the Pikmin series without losing any Pikmin. I love those little goobers, and they die by the dozen in every video. Jokes aside, great video as always, keep it up!

Pikmin 2: Roller Derby Edition. I did not know that the wraiths can kill upon spawning in... that's... fun... I'm surprised there wasn't more captain switching, or any for that matter.

The Majula music around 24:21 was a nice touch

This was just as beautiful as I hoped it would be.

32:19 It’s because that part of the map is actually from the Submerged Castle (which normally isn’t there) and since you can only bring blues in the Submerged Castle they made the generic path for Pikmin go through the water.

I love pikmin players putting hardcore music over the gameplay, it's like those gangster cartoon characters or punk hello kitty

Shoulda had a SINGLE purple at the absolute end, after game is basically over.

The mod should give you pluckaphone from the get go as a gift

i think a cool way to make this challenge very satisfying and less gruelling would be to implement something that despawned the water wraiths after you kill every other enemy on a floor. i would definitely play that.

Salem, if you manage to read this I have a suggestion. Instead of having purple flowers, give the bulbmin the power to deal with the wraith. It only appears in the submerged castle, and it would prevent it from leaving.

9:51 My first thought after what you've said here is simply dandori issue. You have two captains. Surely one captain can bait the water wraith while the other escorts the pikmin carrying the payload. I can't say for certain since I've obviously not experienced Water Wraith behavior outside the Submerged Castle but it doesn't seem like it should be too bad if it behaves similarly at least in the caves.

So that was the first thing I tried and the waterwraith seems to prioritize pikmin over captains for some reason. I had plenty of time were he would completely ignore me and just head straight for my pikmin.

I'd say submerged castle isn't really the most hated cave by any stretch when the final area exists, and even before that, the subterranian complex can be pretty crazy at times I'd say it's more so the most memorable cave for most pikmin 2 players since I see it talked about the most
