Great video, I like how you reiterate that these things are not toys, I’ve actually have had people ask me if they are even lethal like they aren’t WAY more lethal per shot than a modern firearm. Literally none of my cartridge shooters come close to what my Kentucky long rifle has has done to a deer (other than shotgun or arrow)

People look at these and write them off. They forget that these have always done the job and still always will. A 50 cal kentucky pistol shot is way more dangerous than your average modern shot from many or the daily carries of today. It's no joke.

I ended up diy gun smithing my 8” brass framed revolver. I chopped the barrel down to just in front of the loading lever catch. It gives me a shorter barrel without compromising the loading lever use and balancing power. It’s a great shooter and a good woodsman companion for wild walks in the forest. I also fitted it with oversized grips to match my large hands.

Mine is at the gunsmith getting a full modification. I can't wait to get it back.

Brother that is definitely extremely beautiful. That would look great side strapped to a bike for sure. Mean I personally am not scared of carrying bras. I have not brought my bras frame to the range as much but that is definitely a truck gun for sure. Not to mention you find a beautiful half holster that shows off that shine, I’d definitely wear that a few time to show off. Excellent job brother and a truly excellent find at what price I definitely saw as well. 🫡 stay armed and on your toes brother.

@@thedefensecoalition and if I wasn’t about to drop a couple stacks on my wife new van I would have been doing the same brother excellent find. Also that 5.5 brass sheriff has been put back in stock for 300 after tax and shipping

I liked the video but it's not actually brass. It's gunmetal and the frames don't stretch the cylinder when fired is forced rearward and the back of the cylinder hammers the frame. On the 51 navy and 60 army the only part of the frame that contacts the cylinder is a 1/8 inch ring. So the cylinder peens down that ring as it moves rearward when firing. And as the ring gets peened down it increases the cylinder gap. It is fixable with a steel insert. But on the 58 remingtons the cylinder is flat and broad in the back and there is more contact with the frame so the cylinder gap does not open up as much and is likewise fixable. I am also a fan moreso of the 58 remingtons over the colts as well.

Have you ever noticed they have old dollar bills on the gambling scene, but they have modern coins?

Google your state’s antique firearm laws and they’ll tell you everything you should know, brother. Hopefully they don’t give you any problems.

I don’t know if I should go with the brass or the steel first I want to own and collect a variety eventually but don’t know if I should go with the steel or brass first??

It’s not gonna matter because you’ll end up with both if you want a collection. I’d start with steel if you immediately want to shoot.
