PIERRE OVERNOY | A Natural Wine Legend from Jura

WIN AN OVERNOY-HOUILLON BOTTLE in our raffle!
Enter here: morenaturalwine.com/products/...
Pierre Overnoy of Overnoy-Houillon is one of the most sought-after producers from the Jura in the natural wine world. Watch this mini-portrait to him this master discuss the environment, the future of Jura, the extreme secondary prices his wines often sell for and his relationship to his adopted son Emmanuel Houillon. Growing Chardonnay, Ploussard, Trousseau and Savagnin, these wines often sell for insanely high prices at wine auctions, which is a shame to see as the wines are very fairly priced at the domain - so it is the secondary market that pushes up the value so much.
Want to win an Overnoy-Houillon bottle? We refuse to sell them out of respect to how crazy the secondary market prices have become, and so instead offer winelovers of all walks of life to win a Pierre Overnoy bottle in our raffle. Head to morenaturalwine.com or click bit.ly/overnoy to enter the raffle now.

One of the father of the true wines, his life completely dedicated to his craft, the wisdom of a buddhist monk and the humbleness of letting the wine speak for itself

Nice! I worked at Schenk SA Rolle for one season in 1985 I think. Had some Swissy friends and they taught me how to drink white wine, water, white wine, water...haha at the little discos on the Lake.

Well this is the point - they the domain don’t and charge VERY fair prices for the wines. They live extremely humbly, trust me. Some sneaky distributors do send to auction and private collectors do as well. The secondary market value outweighs the cost price by more than any other wine producer we know - yet the domain sells to those they are close to, at extremely fair prices

Low intervention wine just means you're not doing your job

Quite wrong. 😑 It is much, much harder to make a refined, age-worthy and stable wine full of life without the use of additives like sulphur to kill off bad bacteria. You have to work harder in the vineyard and keep the cellar cleaner and not rely on chemicals to fix problems.

@@MORENaturalWine maybe low interventiob in his message refer to those that still use "something" being on the land/vineyard or during the vinification ? For some people its just another way to call natural wine , but it's said that natural wine is : organic or biodynamic and without the use of any additives (?) so why use another expression ?

@@ganjikasteam707 because low intervention is more often used to express a natural wine WITH some minimal added sulphur. But the original comment is saying “low intervention wine (or natural wine) means you’re not doing your job” which is totally ignorant to how much harder it is to make a pure wine, alive, without faults, than a conventional wine
