TW ~ this song is actually not about a relationship. Ana is referring to (although I don't remember the name) a type of mindset where one is upset with how their body looks. His "friends" are referring to harmful coping tools. "Just like a strip club bedroom scene" is referring to hallucinations induced by drugs and alcohol. And quite obviously "scaring the thought of kissing razors" is self-harm. Vic is a wonderful man and this song got me through so much

This is the first time I have ever heard this song and 3:06 hit me like a tone of bricks. His vocals and the piano made this song so emotionally charged it brought tears to my eyes, I love ptv and the way their music digs emotions out of me. Nothing compares to listening to this song for the first time ❤️

When we were together I told them I’d always skip this song cause I wasn’t into it but now I’ve been replaying this 100 times after we broke up cause it’s relatable

I always took this song to be about how after a breakup, the girl still has connections to his friends and it makes it harder to get over her. He needs his friends to make it through the breakup but if they share the same friends she's basically still in his life. And I can relate to having exes who share my same group of friends. It hurts.

I didn't like this song that much first time listening, but I still added it to my playlist, a couple of months later, it played again, really started to feel the song and the lyrics, and now I can't stop listening. It really is a work of art.

Back when I was 18/19 this album just came out, I had downloaded it from tpb and there was a bleep sound at 1:47. I still hear it to this day.

I got into PTV over the summer thanks to a friend who’s been a fan for over 10 years, and she recommended that I should listen to Selfish Machines first, and it honestly was worth it. Out of all the songs on the record, this one is my personal favorite, given the circumstances I was going through at the time with a dying close friendship before hand, and I trace that past friendship to this song. We were really close friends, but he destroyed his life and it killed our friendship. anyway, the song means a lot to me, and i would kill to listen to it again for the first time.

I've thought about this a bit and I'm pretty sure it has a more literal approach to the lyrics, dealing with an abusive mentally straining relationship and how it might be to have to deal with the feeling of toxic reliance you'd have with someone who uses you. Though of course every song is interpretive
