PicoScope Custom Probe Setup - Keith Perkins
Pico Scope-ers!! Have you ever wanted to use a labscope accessory that isn't listed in the probe list? Have you ever wondered how you could convert the voltage output of your tool to display on the scope in Amps, pressure, etc? Then check out this fantastic video by Keith Perkins.
After watching this quick video, you will be able to make a custom probe and automatically translate the output into a measurement value you desire. Keith does a great job explaining step by step for everyone to follow. The members of Trained by Techs aim to help everyone become a master of their trade and hope to see you attending training with us! Have a great day and we hope you enjoy!

Awesome! You made that look so easy. I'll try it with my Hantek current clamps. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great video fellas! I am glad to see you all on a roll with all of these videos!
Thanks Keith for the info. Will play around with that channel today and see what I can learn. New to this whole electronic field and scopes. Easy to get overwhelmed but will continue to press on. Thanks again Keith Artie ❤️
Fantastic information Keith.
such a good teacher ! so glad your'e teaching us and not school kids 😀
Thanks Keith, fun idea.
Awesome stuff thanx for sharing
great stuff
thank you.
Thx for the video, i bought a 2204 last week & looked here for custom probes wich was well explained. At 13:37 you see 1kmbar as pressure index, it should be 1 bar or 1000 millibar (atmosphetic pressure)
THANK YOU KEITH , TRULY APPROPRIATE THIS INFO JUST BOUGHT A Hantek Ignition Capacitive Auto Pickup/Probe (HT25) USING WITH A PICO IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE UP A CUSTOMER PROBE . I HAVE MADE CUSTOMER PROBES FOR AMP CLAMPS AND IGNITION COIL ON PLUG PICKUPS BEFORE BUT NEVER ONE LIKE THE HANTEK . ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKS AGAIN !
That's a helpful walk through. I wonder if the software will accept nonlinear scaling, too. If not, it would be easy to take an extra step and translate manually.

Love me some TBT and KP
A ton of thanks, Keith. I am a beginner at picoscopes and I'm using Picoscope 2204A. However, I want to measure the current flows through my PSoC 6 board using Picoscope 2204A. Now the question is how to measure current flows in the board without a current probe? And then where do we need to connect the hook tip of Picoscope from the PSoC 6 board? Thank you.
obrigado por compartilhar, poderia fazer um video explicando como fazer uma sonda personalizada de um transdutor de pressão? sem ser o da pico, um outro similar como demonstrou com os grampos?

Si, just use the voltage to pressure scale, instead of volts to current.
Hello Keith I jpwatch mechanics mindset videos and just purchased the rotkee pressure transducer had to make an adapter so it fit my snap on compression hoses and solid tester but seems to work I also need to spend more time using it . Any thoughts
just a thought worth mentioning on the type of map sensor - am I right in saying a turbo petrol engine map sensor will output somewhere near 3 volts at 1000 mbar whereas an older (pre throttle flap) diesel map is out putting near zero at 1000mbar. effectively meaning some of them can measure below atmospheric (1000mbar) AND pressure when you create the scale accordingly ?
Couldn’t you back probe the map sensor and read engine vacuum? For example o perform a cranking intake pulse test?
Can you show me how to make a set up for a snap on transducer for the Pico 7 software
How do you set up a custom secondary ignition probe? I can never find the spec's on the probes to know what the scaling should be?

mine are straight (simple) probe and then the kit i got from pico has 100:1 attenuators that plug in inline with the BNC to prevent frying the scope. what type are you using

@@TrainedbyTechs brought a four channel scope from thinktool and it didn't come with come with much accessories and now I have to purchase a low amp probe.high amp probe. COP tool and other accessories. Wanna know what to get before I get fed up and get rid of this tool.
I don't see that much adjustment on pico7.
