Pickup Power: 1959 Corner-Carving Apache - /BIG MUSCLE
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Back in 1959 the idea of having a pickup truck that could go around corners was simply ludicrous. These trucks were meant to haul farm equipment, construction supplies and tow stuff, not shred corners and pull lateral-g's. Owner Wes Drelleshak has always liked trucks, however he's always had a special affinity for one in particular - a 1959 Chevrolet Apache with the rare Fleetside bed. He bought it with the intention of making it his daily driver, but then something happened... He found out about auto-x.

there's nothing better than a kick ass ride with a super cool down to earth owner.
It may go without saying, but this world NEEDS more people like Wes. Take what's old and make it cool without being an ass about it. Great owner, great truck.
what an awesome truck. it looks nice with the style it has right now and it just looks cool on the road. this is the definition of a custom vehicle for me because it is unique and you are not likely to see another one of these anything like this one.
My dad drooled all over the place. Great ride Wes!
The black and white intro in this episode is a thing of beauty!
Great episode......and awesome job on the build Wes. This truck is sweet.
That's one hell of a muscle truck, great episode.
Thank you for sharing car enthusiast's passion for spirited driving. The cars that you present shows the personal commitment and pride why they drive such cars!
I happen to really like this Truck. It has a certain kind of character to it. I dont care if its fast or slow because I just like the attitude it puts forth but it is a nice bonus that it can handle pretty well and go fast. I hope to see more and more cars like this being built in the future. Not every car from the 50's or 60's has to be a trailer queen these days. Go out and drive it like you stole it and enjoy it for what it is. Nice Build.
Wes first and foremost your truck is badass and awesome job! Love when people such as yourself think outside the box and create something unique and one of a kind.
Hahah I was going to ask what the chrome glove box was all about. Glad I waited until the video was completely over :)
Awesome build!! This truck has personality .. serious old school attitude! Great work!!
Can't tell you how many times I've watched this same video. its amazing.

indeed. I love the point made too about instead of putting 300 a month into some other car from dealership, you can put that into your own car and build it however you like...especially if you take a out a loan.
I go straight below the video and hit like before watching. Musto is so slick.
I just love these videos. They people who make them do a great job, no stupid music over the motor noise. The host is very calm, just very simply tells you about the vehicle and drives it. More people should learn from DRIVE on how to make a car video. Very well done! I enjoy them all....but we need to see more mopars!
That truck is awesome! Every part of it looks perfect. It's shape ( agree with the owner the Fleetside bed looks great), the paintjob, no sidemirrors, the wheels. Simple, yet perfect.
I think that look is far more classic, and appealing than any high dollar exotic paint Job. Bro, this truck by far blows away the hotrod feel of a Hellcat and is far better than a 2017 Zl1 Camaro. Classy Bro, keep it real.
That truck is so sic. there's one sitting in my garage rite now thanks for the inspiration. See ya out there.
I love the episodes /Drive and Big Muscle! It's also pretty awesome that the watching your shows gives me a taste of back home. I grew up in Moorpark so seeing the back roads of Santa Paula was rad 👍
Wow! Mike your past is inspiring. These videos you make are life changing. Just amazing, I'm usually overwhelmed and at a loss of words watching them.
Awesome build and video! Thanks for showing us Mike.
Awesome episode, Mike! Very cool vehicle too. I love seeing these old vehicles that're tuned and prepared for more than just straight line acceleration and speed.
The paint work on this truck is a masterpiece. Absolutely love its style and finish!
One of the best episodes. Hhaahah love the little tidbits at the end, glove box was fuckin hilarious. This show is so well done and entertaining I think Mike should take it and make it a legit TV show with longer episodes. Great show...
Awesome episode by the way. Great to see a nice home built hot rod, it's super cool seeing everyone come together and work with one another to build something awesome. I wish people on the internet understood this.
Great Job on this Wes...glad to see this thing out pounding the streets and the road course's. ...
I love this show. There is nothing like it. A car.a guy. And his story. Brilliant.
Great Job!!! Bringing a classic back to life, one bad-ass day at a time!
That truck is simply gorgeous. He got the stance just right. I've always loved 50's and early 60's pick-ups with the fleetside boxes. I'd take a truck like that over quite a few of the hot rod cars I've seen.
I love the new shooting style used in the intro!

You know man, stop. Thats too much
I'm putting a chrome glove box in my 55.. lol... BTW, I like your comment on substituting a car payment to build a project that means something. very cool. also, the fact that you can lean on the truck with a set of keys hanging from your jeans, and not really worrying about a scratch is awesome! it's already scratched!
i have huge, lifted, massive tired, trucks, this thing is more my style and its freakin cool as hell, good work, and thanks for makin a vid of it
That truck was absolutely beautiful. Great episode
One of the best episodes yet! Great job guys!
I got a 58 apache did the same thing to it 20 years ago, been my daily driver ever since!
Absolutely love this build. I bought a 1959 Apache 3100 in 2020 and I’ve been doing little by little as I can. Recently I had a chassis built and have an engine and tranny sitting in the garage waiting for the chassis to be delivered. Right now I’m working on the body and I would really love to talk to the owner of this truck. I’d like to pick his brain a little bit. I’m doing this stuff myself and do not have any auto body or painting experience and I do want the patina look. Once I get the chassis I’ll be running my brake lines, hoses, and wiring and then marrying the engine and tranny to the chassis. The first thing that caught my eye about the build was how he used the inner headlights for more air consumption. That’s one of the first things I thought about doing prior to even buying my truck. My thought was to eventually have twin turbos on the engine but knew it would be quite a while before I could afford to do that so I thought I would just do what he did. If it’s possible for the owner of this channel to put me in touch somehow with the owner of the truck I would appreciate it. Thanks and thank you for all your content.
That truck is rad man. Keep doing your thing. That’s what it’s all about. Your own style.
Damn nice truck. Nice find Mike. That production quality of each show keeps getting better. Keep up the great work. Hats off to your crew too.
what a cool job to have. driving and reviewing all those badass cars, and a truck in this case!
This truck is amazing! I've personally been able to meet Wes because he used to come into my work every so often (K1 Speed Irvine). He really is a cool guy and very humble as said in the video. Glad to see that he's doing well! Come back and race sometime Wes!
I look forward to your shows there awsome.you make people feel good about there selves and that's rare now days keep up the good work

These guys are some of the best in the industry.
I just purchased a 1959 Apache, today. 59 years old, I’m home now highlighting through a parts catalog and it just occurred to me that this is what I really want to do with this truck... your story has inspired me to make this the the truck I’ve always dreamt of. Looks like I’m not buying anything till she’s off the frame, ground up in efforts to keep tasks to a 1 time each. Any advice, part recommendations would be appreciated!
Apache. One heck of a warrior. I appreciate a great little truck. Even the glovebox lid is cool!
This is why I love /Drive I'm always interested in the fast million dollar cars they feature but its these guys that really inspire me to want to restore a car the way i want to :)
I so love that truck, just the way it is. Great build.
I really like how well the Nova dash was integrated into the truck
Cool truck, seems like a super nice guy too, Love the chrome glovebox story at the end
This is without a doubt your best video...love the ending!
That was an award-winning introduction. You guys should definitely consider trying to get that acknowledged by an awards committee.
I like the paint job, makes the truck look even more badass.
@ 7:14 "the patina look in something I created one night in my boxers"..... lol I think every man at some point in life has made patina in his boxers...
Forever looking forward seeing the episode on that blue camaro wheeling in the intro..
This is one of my favorite videos from BIG MUSCLE. A very honest video. Thank you Mike. And Wes, thank you for creating something awesome. People don't appreciate humble, nice car enthusiasts these days.
Wow, this is an amazing truck. Absolutely blown away!
I got one too,but not even close to this one and mine is step side, beautiful truck thanks for sharing with everyone, this is art at its best.
Love seeing stuff like this. Stunning.
amazing episode ... probably the best , love you guys
That is sick. Nice build. Love the who cares/looks badass paint.
That's my kind of farm truck! The glove-box is pretty stylin' too!
This thing is a BEAST! I love it.
This is the video that got me started on my truck
Your intros keep getting better and better Mike.
Great show as always Mike!
bravo! awesome video, awesome story! - this is what its all about! - love it! well done guys!
This is, by far, my favorite episode of Big Muscle, maybe the favorite episode from the whole Drive. Mike said beautifully one great explanation of this kind of feel. People spend 300+ bucks every month paying some car while you can spend the same amount of money to make something that is unique, yours, that translate and materializes your passion. That is the reason I like things like this pickup truck.
The black & red sanded patina makes this thing look pure evil, I love it. This truck hits every mark, very well done!
Very cool truck. It inspires me to do this my Gen 2 L someday and i have had it for 7 years.
That truck is cool! Great job on the build.
Always enjoying your show. Keep it up.
This is the best one guys. I do the same with my 64 gmc swb fleetside. There's nothing better than giving your daily up for a hot rod. Before the truck was a 3rd gen nova, and after the truck... Wellc
Wow awsome vid awsome build love what you have done to it very good good job best episode yet can't wait to see what else u have in stored for it!
Best episode of big muscle by far explains why people love their cars
True masterpiece right there. Thank you Mike!
ha that's one super cool Apache. awesome truck an the Nova dash is a great touch !
The narrating.... the video quality.... just so nice! Come to malaysia! we have some great roads too!
I fucking love this show. Did I mention I fucking love this how? Wes built himself total rockstar of a truck.
this channel is my newest addiction!
love this video. its an amazing looking truck, genuine guy building it in his garage. thats what we are all about.
I simply fell in love with this truck! My dream truck.
In case there were doubts that Mike Musto has the best job in the world...
That video beginning, that editing, what a great crew you have Mike. The look of the truck is fabulous as it is. Just a few finishing touches on the interior to make it comfortable and that's it.

Great show again!!
Stupid fast is the best kind of fast! Awesome truck Wes, keep it up.
Seems like such a nice guy. Also that is a sick truck!
Great build. I love the air ram idea.
Nice Job Wes! That's a serious sleeper! Love it!
Best series on YT....hands down.
Wow. This is one is probably my favorite episode yet! Well, it's up there with Eleanor and the blown caddy anyway ;)
Awesome beautiful truck. Love it. Will hopefully get my Cameo there soon!
The sound of that truck is killer!
This video inspired me to build me own apache! I'm going to record it all, maybe one day (decades from now) I'll get to this level 😂
Yes the truck rocks !! I am seriously jealous !!
What a beatiful truck, all comes from a dream... saludos from san luis potosi, mexico...

The /Drive boys do a nice job.
i totally expected to hear david attenborough narrating in that first intro sequence haha! awesome episode
Absolutely liked the story! Awesome Job!
Hey that truck looks evil 😈 like get in shut and hold the hell on !! Lmao 😂 great ride 🤣
My absolute favourite episode so far. Why ? For two reasons. The first but not the most important is the truck. The best build I've yet seen covered by Mike and the team, and they know how to pick the gems ! But the most important reason is what I heard from both Wes and Mike. The message in this all too short episode was the best thing I've heard in ages. Wes, if you read this, keep true to yourself and your humbleness is really touching. I have no doubt that the guys that you thought to mention know this and that's why they choose to help you. Mike, make sure to revisit this beautifully inspired true hot rod and it's very genuine owner. Oh, and thanks for such an excellent program ! : )

Hey ! Glad you saw my comment : ) Love the way the truck's turning out, looks just right somehow and Mike's not one to bullshit about stuff ! And he was smitten by it : ) I wish you all the best with the fam, the truck and the racing. Made me smile so thanks for that ! MfG
Sh!t I'd always loved the Apache trucks. that is a beautiful truck I wish I could afford to do a project like that one. Hope to see more updates
love the patina! great work Wes!
