You’re right on Peter, piss poor quality , just like the auto industry in the 70’s & 80’s. Profits are priority, screw the customer. There are just a few manufacturers now that do it right & have quality control . The rest of these manufacturers are scrap . 🤛⚾️

Your videos are always so much fun to watch! You really do a great job editing; adding in obviously setup "arrival" shots, getting great B-Roll as you drive, catching ambiance like sunsets and roadside attractions (or the lack thereof) and just making it seem like we're with you. That's not easy to do! It takes planning, and I want you to know it's appreciated. Filmmaking is a tough task, even doing a 'simple' thing like a quick travel vid, but you do it well. Your breakdown on the delivery inspection was very nice as well. Always very personal and easy-going. Very enjoyable all the way around. So glad to see your journey evolve and so glad to share it with you. As a commercial driver for 45 years, I'll give you a piece of advice everyone hauling a trailer should know when backing: learn to rely on your mirrors. You will be much more confident and efficient when you feel comfortable using your mirrors. So looking forward to keeping up with your progress on the minor/major fixes and your travels. Really excited for you guys!!!

This was fun. Thanks for bringing us along. I enjoyed your excitement. Managing expectations is the operative phrase here especially for first time RV buyers. New RV owners take notice. Owning and using an RV means continuous maintenance and that’s not a bad thing. It’s satisfying to know you can make repairs as needed and do required maintenance. Knowing this enables that feeling of freedom and independence we want. Have fun you two…

Even though you weren’t crying i was! After your last video with the tent and the clam flying away I am soooooo happy you finally have a home!!! It’s amazing! Our first camper walk through was a wonderful amazing experience - they couldn’t have done more or been more helpful - our second one - when we got our big girl was a disaster and they didn’t help us at all! We started out with the same sway system you have and it didn’t work for us but our truck is smaller and our rig is bigger so there is no comparison to our experience and yours I just have a little ptsd when I see the chains - crossing Macknac island bridge in the wind - ya that was a bad day for me. Thank am over the top happy for you guys!!! Congrats!!! Bunches of love Noelle

Nice video, thanks for sharing... We had a 2018 Outdoors RV Timber Ridge same model. Absolutely loved it, one of the great things about this manufacturer is that they are not a mass production outfit. You can show up anytime and take a tour and/or even take the trailer there to have issues looked at and fixed. Awesome service, totally bypassing the huge delays at the dealership...😊😉👍

Thanks! I think ORV is slowly doing away with that and you need to go through your dealer now for any parts or service. The factory still does the big major jobs a dealer can't......but they direct you back to the dealer for the small stuff now...

Always get an inspection - you’d be surprised at all that can be wrong with even brand new units. Just watch Blue Ox On The Run. And then don’t sign the papers and take delivery until everything is fixed. And you raise a good question - if you shouldn’t use a pressure washer on an RV, then why does the dealer. Was that just to cover up the water leaks you found? Good luck with your unit - it looks really nice.

We just did a two and half month road trip across the country in our 24rls Outdoors RV. We love it. Might I recommend if you don’t have one already a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) on your rigs tires. I put these on our rig and it was a saving grace as we did have a tire issue while on our travels and the sensor let me know before the tire completely went flat and possibly got shredded and we found the closest tire shop which happened to be a semi truck tire shop and they repaired the tire for $35 while we sat in our truck. Happy travels! Welcome to the Outdoors family! Side note…. You can grab one off of Amazon for about $80 . You really don’t need super fancy just one that will watch your tires for you and alert you early of an issue.

I love your positive attitude. I disagree that you should “manage expectations “. You purchased a higher end travel trailer, you bought an upgraded package . I don’t understand the cabinets, the beautiful uppers vs cheep veneer bottoms. All those faults should have been caught by both the manufacturer and the dealer. And the pressure washing thing, that is ridiculous. I would love to see more about about the Andersen hitch. I recently towed my tt for first time. While I love how solid my Husky Centreline system is, I cannot manage them myself (too hard to instal and remove), my son helped me at home. When I reached the campground, I left the and truck hitched. The mods look great.

These videos are becoming wonderful conformation for my wife and I that we did the correct thing for us and did not get an RV upon retirement. I downshifted to a Greenskeeper job at a golf course and she got a job at a Dress Shop as we left our stressful life behind. I set my Ram 1500 Classic with the 6’4” bed up so we can sleep under the stars off the ground; pulling the tonneau cover over us is light rain. If the weather turns really bad on out monthly camping trips around NM and TX we just get a hotel room with the money we saved by not getting an RV. We then love watching your videos as we ride our stationary bikes to remind us that we made the correct decision!

We just picked up our 22 FQS Titanium this weekend (in Oregon). Same thermostat issue, but it was not unexpected and easy to correct once they are available. There were no issues with the cabinets. The only other thing we noticed was the hot and cold water on the shower were reversed (also an easy fix). And, yes, I too am still getting used to the towing bit. Been in a truck camper for years! Looking forward to seeing what you do now! Bill

Having owned a TT (bunkhouse style), I concur with you assessment about QC and QA issues. ORV seems to be working harder than most on this, and few others besides. Sounds like you guys got pretty much what you wanted in a FT RV situation. The RVIA have an excellent PDI checklist you can print out that covers over 250 different parts of a TT, and is very in depth as it covers everything from top to bottom, and all points in between. At least you're not having some of the horror stories I've read about from the Indiana manufacturers (like broken propane lines, direct shorts in the wiring where overexuberant techs screwed screws through wiring bundles, etc.), and that ORV being a local company for us (we're lifelong OR residents) means the money stays in Oregon, and the dealer really has to shine to maintain a long term relationship after the sale. Good luck, with safe and hoppy travels from the Boondocking Brewer™!

I had a big smile on my face watching this and seeing how excited y'all were. The small issues are a bit of a bummer, but I don't know anyone that's got an RV that didn't come with a few little cosmetic issues. I imagine that's more common now that production is being rushed to keep up with demand. Are they going to swap out the thermostat for you once the digital one is available?

1st off, we love your videos. They have been so helpful. You bring a wonderful combination of joy, passion and technical knowledge to these videos and we really appreciate you. We are about 2 years away from retirement and a full time RV life. From the hours and hours of research we've done, we are very close to making the decision to go with an ORV product. Not certain which one yet. Your experience with the PDI on your new home is giving us 2nd thoughts. I understand that every new RV has issues. I don't like it, I don't accept that it's unavoidable, but it seems to be too common to not expect a similar situation. Many "RV Experts" advise never taking delivery of your new RV until all quality issues have been fully resolved. I realize that with supply chain problems and such, taking that approach may mean waiting months for the issues to be corrected and actually taking delivery. However, what is the dealer's incentive to correct the problems in a timely a manner, (or at all) if they have already been paid? Anyway, let me end by saying thank you. Who knows, maybe we we'll see you down the road. Be well.

Thank you for the kind words...we really do appreciate it when people let us know they enjoy watching our videos!...so Thank you! We can certainly understand your hesitations and concerns with this whole process. I (Aaron) will say..in the "normal" world we would have boughten a truck and RV that was a couple years old and well taken care of. But with the used prices of both being so close to the new ones..that is the route we went. Warranties for us would just be there for the larger items and everything else we will take care of ourselves. We try to self insure on most things...... But, yes, if we would have refused pick up and had the dealer fix everything it would have been a lot longer wait on top of our 5 months. Most of these items should have been caught by QC at the factory...but I wonder if they are getting more relaxed with such high demand. I told someone else in the comments ( who also said they are having second thoughts about ORV) that we would not change our decision at this time. I just don't know what else we would have got for the same money. The new 25ft Airstreams would be an extra $50,000 and we wouldn't have gotten some of the things that you do get with ORV. (mainly off road capabilities, insulation, and larger tanks) I just was a bit disappointed in the cabinet quality and construction as we bought ours sight unseen and didn't really know the exact qualities. Anyways....keep us informed as you get closer to retirement and your shopping decisions!

Good for you guys! We have the Backcountry 24rks. Right now I'm in the process of upgrading the solar to a complete system by Battle born and Victron. From our experience with our purchase a year ago, we weren't quite as fortunate. We live in MN and had to pull the trailer 5hrs into Omaha to have the slide and jacks looked at. The slide was assembled out of spec from the factory and the dealer and to completely reinstall it. The jacks, well there was a broken wire which prevented the driver side from coming down. All in all, they are a great trailer. Regarding the "bucking" wait until you're on a cement highway when it really starts bucking. It can be almost enough to make your stomach upset! We have a ton GMC with the diesel also.

My first PDI was a big surprise. Ordered our Winnebago Minnie Plus 27BHSS at the Hershey RV Show in September 2017. Trailer came in in early February 2018. Asked to look through it before we did the paperwork. Stepped inside the trailer and it was not what we ordered. It had theater seats/recliners and we had ordered the tri-fold couch for extra sleeping. It also had an electric fireplace below the tv that eliminated considerable storage. So I went inside and told the manager I was not buying this; he was not happy. They were able to get the next trailer like it the way we wanted it, but it took an added 7 weeks. We took delivery in late March 2019 as an early 2019 model. PDI went smoothly for that one. We have enjoyed it ever since. Over 18,000 miles towed in our travels. Upgrading from an F-150 to a 2022 F-250 shortly to continue our adventures. Enjoy your videos very much.

Good luck with your new trailer. When I bought our first trailer ... on the first trip the drains under the sink were leaking. Water all over the floor. After temporarily re-attaching the piping where the leak was originating with electrical tape, we survived the event and immediately returned it to the dealership on the way back home. I had called them immediately about the problem and notified them when I would be bringing the trailer in. They told me that time wasn't convenient for them but I insisted since the dealership was midway between where we were camping and our home base. They fixed the problem under warranty (re-attachment and reinforcement of the piping as they had come loose due to the travel vibration of the slide out) and I was able to pick-up the trailer heading out for our next camping trip a few weeks later. We found a few other issues over the next year and actually had the whole of the front section and decals replaced due to skin bubbling. Since then there have only been small issues (stove igniter short circuit, power umbilical pinching and rewiring, airborne faucet {yes it actually became airborne} where the seal had deteriorated, winterizing, etc.) which I was able to repair myself until recently when we developed a propane leak and related hot water issue. That was also repaired under extended warranty while I had the all the exterior weather seals checked and replaced. Our baby is 7 years old now (2014 Tracer Air 250) and still suits our lifestyle better than any of the new trailers on the market. At the time it seemed an expensive unit but compared to current pricing and features it has been a very good deal. The extended 7 year warranty definitely paid for itself, especially now that it is 'out of warranty' but in near perfect condition.

Hi guys. PDI = always a challenging day! We got ours from Keylowna RV, in BC Canada, and we live in Montréal, Qc...so our service is far! lol. We got lucky as we didn't have any major thing going wrong...and after 2 summers of great "glamping", we are really happy so far with the build quality. We had a Keystone Bullet prior to that....and we got quite a few things to fix and fiddle before we were happy with the TT. Shake down for us was "accross Canada drive during a full swing pandemic, masks and all" lol. We noticed right away, despite pulling with a GMC Sierra 1500 series truck that it "tracks amazing" with our Equalizer 10000 pounds hitch. Awaything our new 1 ton Sierra truck with a diesel anyway ;-) Those ORV trailers are indeed "very luxurious". You will love the quietness they have, & the sturdiness as well. Too bad that dealerships don't have the time or manpower to have a more perfect product for the customer. Love the changes that you have made to the RV, and your positive attitude to make the corrections to the problem areas! One time when we picked up a travel trailer, the dealership wanted us to sign everything and leave within 30 minutes. My husband said "no" to the situation and required the dealership to perform a walk through. The dealership stated that they had cleaned inside. When we got the unit home, it took over six damp paper towels just to clean the dining table. The RV developed problems with the axles. We should have walked away from the entire process, but we learned never to be rushed in the walk through. So glad that you made time for a proper walk-through. Congratulations!

I think the best take away for anyone purchasing an RV, be it a travel trailer or self drive is on your acceptance date, have the dealer fill all the tanks and provide AC power. Run the A/C then heat, water etc. You should be opening cabinets looking for leaks. Disconnect power and run whatever is suppose to run off propane. Most trailers have batteries - ours started with ACM and then we upgraded to lithium. Our first TV was a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and we had no issues. Our three-way fridge ran perfectly (during towing it is powered from the vehicle but during brief stops it powers off the lithium). Jump forward and we added a second TV, a 2020 Ford F150. First trip we stopped two hours into the trip and see flashing lights on the fridge. After much research etc., we learn the Ford doesn't provide sufficient power through the seven pin to charge the batteries. Yes, there is sufficient to run the fridge while driving but once you turn the engine off, the system doesn't automatically switch to battery. It is the Ford and the computer. Work around is adding a DC to DC convertor. Bottom line, while doing a thorough walk through of your rig, do good research on your TV.

Yet another great, informative video! It's certainly frustrating to hear about some of the fit-and-finish issues. Our acquisition will be likely be similar to yours - several hundred miles from the dealership and I don't think we'll have a lot of time to spend in the area for a thorough shakedown. When I visited the dealer last week I asked if they'd allow a professional RV inspector to go through the rig before we took delivery and the answer was yes. So, we may go that route. Thank you so much for all you do!

It's late, but, I just discovered the channel, but, want to offer my congrats on the new trailer! One thought popped up, when you showed the water dripping UNDER the trailer. If it hasn't already been addressed, I'd suggest those panels be removed and see how much damage to (any) insulation has been done. If the insulation has gotten wet, I think there may be other issues down the road, e.g., replacement of insulation, etc. The dlr power washing the unit rather surprised me, too. SUGGESTION: Would be interested seeing a current video on hitching/unhitching the Andersen hitch, adjustments you have to make when not hitching up at the same angle as prev unhitch, etc. Poss/neg thoughts on the hitch, now that you've had a bit of road time. Wishing y'all the best with the new rig. Y'all Be Safe!

We bought a new outdoors RV product in 2016 from a dealer in Eastern Oregon. At the time they said they had completely gone through the RV to make sure everything worked. We spent that night at the wild horse casino just up the road from them just incase anything was wrong. We were glad we did. The hot water heater leaked, several lights didn't work, several blinds left a gap of an inch or so at the bottom of the window - so much for privacy, etc. When we returned in the morning the RV dealer did fix the problems, but what ever happened to their walk thru. We have had more issues with this trailer than any other RV we owned. Brought the trailer back later for repairs, one of which was a toilet that wouldn't seal so had fumes from black tank in trailer. Tech said he doesn't work on other people's toilet. Brought to another dealer by Albany that fixed the seal that was installed wrong when toilet installed. Not sure if we will ever buy another outdoors rv product.

Excellent video! Looking forward to many more as you share your ORV experiences and adventures. The PDI issues you found were similar to ours, including poor shower door sealant and a low-point drain valve that wouldn't open because it was installed jammed against the wall. Fortunately our drawers all close properly, but we are starting to see some wear on the drawer edges. Our biggest issue in the year plus that we've had our 280KVS was a bent rear axle which caused excessive inner tire wear on the driver's side. The dealer worked with Dexter to replace that under warranty. Be sure to check your tire/wheel alignment at some point. And bummer about the thermostat. At least they didn't delay your delivery just for that. You can have the digital thermostat that came with ours if you want. I upgraded to a Microair EasyTouch WiFi thermostat.

Thanks for all the insight with your PDI. Wish I knew you two back in 2016 when I purchased my Class A 33 ft. diesel pusher which I will not name (but the initials are Fleetwood!!.....LOL) as it spent more time the first 6 months in the shop than on the road. Once I thought all was good the alternator went out and luckily just before the warranty ran out. My intent was to RV full time but due to some life changes sold it and moved to SC. I do plan on buying a small travel trailer this winter to use for boondocking. Right now I am considering the Jayco 166 FBS as it seems to fit my needs. I will plan on doing things much differently when I go for my PDI. Thanks again

Oh that's a bummer on your DP! I have heard some horror stories about high end units in the shop like that! Hopefully all works out for you in your new TT endeavor this winter! We are really liking the truck and TT for us. Thanks!

Congrats. It’s a shame you didn’t get the Pro Trailer Backup Assist option for your truck. It’s an AWESOME system that really helps new an inexperienced people backup their trailers. I’m also waiting to see how long you keep the tent on the bed of the truck before you replace it with something that gives you more storage capacity. COnsider getting a shell for the bed of your truck instead. You could always put an air mattress in there if you needed to sleep in it for any reason and it would be safer in bear country than a tent. You’d have the extra covered storage as well.

Thanks Marv! Yes, I would have opted for that option for sure, even to just get the 360 camera system that comes with it. We were lucky to find a 1 ton Tremor in April that wasn't over MSRP and didn't have much of any options! I did originally invasion a hard shell topper like you mentioned before we pivoted to the roof top tent. Maybe still one day! Thanks!

I also have an odrv that I got from Poncha. We love our rv. Had a couple cosmetic issues as well but nothing major. We did remove our kitchen table and put in recliners. Made a big difference for us. If your ever back in Salida let me know I’ll buy you a beer.

Your trailer “backing up” training reminds me of me and my ski boat. I practiced until I was “pro like”, which I needed when I was pulling the boat over a small flat narrow over-a-culvert one-lane (temporarily) bridge that ran about 500 feet long. Halfway across I encountered an elderly couple in a small car coming from the other direction. I knew that they wouldn’t be able to back up, so I did. Nothing like backing up 250 feet in a straight line to test your trailer-handling skills.

Very minor, if the slide worked like the drawer, that's a problem. Like your videos. The first one was on lake superior in tent. Big change. Happy trails.

I’ve towed small boat for years and never had a problem backing up to launch or store. However when backing up my Airstream Basecamp X 16 foot trailer, it was like I had never ever backed up a car let alone a trailer! I had to re-learn as all the normal visual references weren’t there! LOL yep practice practice practice.

Yes! That is exactly my same experience! Backing up a boat was a piece of cake......but the extra height, width, and size just makes it different! I still need more practice for sure.... but its coming around.😂

Agree on recording everything. I owned my sprinter for over a year before I discovered you could dim the interior lights... (you have to hold down the on/off button). As this happened, I remembered being told this when I picked it up, and I had just forgotten.

Glad to see your settling in to your RV and thanks for the video of the PDI process, sucks you had those minor issues especially with the titanium package. Sorta glad I saved the money on mine, but we shall see. Have not spoken to Holiday to confirm they placed the order, I did email them Saturday after finalizing the deal the week prior. I know you mention that in your email to me about them. 🙄 Holiday told me it should be in to them the around the end of January so I am not looking forward to picking it up in the winter but I am sure it will be delayed by something with everything going on. I also told them I was waiting on the truck as well so they are going to work with me on the pickup process if the truck isn’t by then. Just curious if they have any room indoors for the PDI process for winter weather?? I just ordered my Tremor on Friday but I was lucky enough to get the “A” plan pricing because my uncle works for Ford. Dealer also said that he has seen customer orders getting built before any dealer orders and also A plans seem to move them ahead in production schedule as well. I went with the 250 because in the Tremor package, it is Identical frame and suspension components as the 350, according to 2 ford techs I know. Just different payload stickers and side badges according to them. Oh and I did get the trailer tow system with the cameras so hopefully that helps me, lol, I am used to towing a boat and small trailers with my current truck but this will be my first RV. I’ll be waiting to see your future videos, esp more on the Hitch and the electrical upgrades. So since Holiday ordered your hitch in are they going to stock them now or do I need to do that as well since I was looking at getting the same hitch?

  • @IreneIronTravels

Thanks Kevin! Good luck in everything showing up for you timely! Holiday does have garages there...so maybe they do have an indoor PDI place since they are used to inclement weather. They don't stock the Andersen hitches, so you need to call and ask for Patty in parts and she will order it. Fun times ahead for you!

I dig the trailer too, and yeah the minor defects are all easily fixable with some elbow grease and concentration and work. It's probably a good thing in the end, as having to work on portions of it will just mean that you're all the more familiar with the internal workings of the rig. Working on those smaller things will make you even better acquainted with the rig in general. Probably even more than living in it for a few years would. Oh, and lastly; who's Irene?

Irene is Chris's middle name and grand ma's name as well. We named our coaching business after it and the YT channel just followed suit with it! Thanks!!😊

If you increase the weight distribution you should reduce or eliminate that porpoising feel. We tow a 7500 lb Grand Design with our F350 Lariat Diesel using a ProPride hitch we bought when we has our F150. Love your rig and Tremor

Congratulations…with respect. We had 2013 WindRiver 250 RDSW. Great trailer. Better service. ORV folks are wonderful. Did we have problems with the trailer yup. Most of the repairs where done at their World Headquarters factory in La Grande. As Highway 4&4 aka Steve told me at one of ORV campouts in Wallowa….buying an ORV product is like buying the best house in a crappy neighbourhood. Enjoy your trailer and your journey. If you can….attend the ORV Campout. You could win the world renowned A.R.S.C.E. Award. There are no strangers their….just friends you haven’t met. and remember..A trailer is a trailer is a trailer. Coops 😎
