Cool video. I need to start restoration. Mine’s an ‘86 LX 5.0 5-speed from original owner. 551k miles. Straight, solid, Cali car no rust. Front bumper missing lower part from a road gator, can’t find one for the life of me.

@@bmstylee they used to, but around here at least folks are privy to why anyone wants a 5.3 so the prices are up, and then there's the final cost of installing it something not designed for it. Its not as wide as the coyote engine, but you still need headers that fit or you go with the Holley cast manifolds and lose power versus what ran in the dyno (a common problem really), and then you have to figure out the oil pan, serpentine belt, can you run a power steering pump that doesn't blow out the rack and pinion (classic move on hot rods, they run a 350 with a saginaw pump and it over pressurizes the Mustang II rack) and then there's the $400 throttle by wire gas pedal, and if you use a modern trans it uses sensors rather than cables for the speedo so you buy a new one to match up and.... but if you grew up with this 20 yr old design, you already know WTF and there's fewer problems with the swap, just like if you know fords, you know a 300 inline six oil filter twists 90 degrees and you can put it on the 302 to clear a hot rod crossmember and then what oil pan doesn't stick its sump in the straight axle assembly and so on.

@@albertgaspar627 I agree. All of that money could just as easily go into a nice 351w or coyote...maybe even a 460 or 351c. If you're saving money with an LS, it's really not much.

3.8L is a BIG six cylinder man what you mean. We had the Ford sierra xr4x4 2.8L V6 i bet that car would muller this mustangs best top model v6 spec though. Search Crystal Palace raceway 1970s Ford escort 1.6L vs Chevy 5.8L watch that race its the best USA V UK race ever and theres a Boss mustang in the pack too surrounded like 1200cc minis lol. Ok fox body GT vs Xr4x4 my money is on the sierra all day with its 2.8L v6 and 4x4 powertrain but still its basically a cosworth ishhh. My step dads xr4x4 original version would spin all 4 wheels unless its good dry road then it would jump gone. But on rough road dry or wet it spun like a mofo.

I wish we had a car show that raced UK fords vs US fords. Ford knows its UK built fords are better thats why they sell those in USA now. Ok some EU fords but they carried on from UK ford the best fords started life in UK. Fiesta, Escort, Sierra, to Focus and Mondeo. Fiesta kept its badge Escort became Focus and Sierra became Mondeo. Capri is still awol. Capri is the British Mustang and i bet Mustang vs Capri could be a whole tv show series itself all models vs all models i would love to see that. Base models first then the mid ships then the flag ships all the different marks and then the race spec built monsters around USA tracks laguna seca i wish i wish.

The 3.8 is a big litre displacement, Chevy has a 4.3 which is huge and designed to take the place of V8 engines back in the days of 1980's gas crisis (people forget that happened as they cry about Biden and gas prices now--Reagan and Bush had their gas price crisises as well).

"carpet's dry"--that's a reference to the heater core blowing and dumping on the passenger carpet. Replacing the $20 part requires $800 in labor as you pull the entire dashboard out (unless its a non AC car and you can go thru the glovebox like a VCR toploader player from RCA--ask your father about those).

As a broke college student i did mine in a month. no garage, winter time, i had one hour a day after classes to find EVERY bolt (i don't just rip it apart)and then drop the steering column before it was dark and too cold to work without gloves (i live in the snow belt). even worse was finding new heater hoses, they don't make that design anymore its a different bend--and i searched NOS everywhere until i realized it would be just as old as the hoses i was tossing.
