Also, y'all cut Goku some slack, he sacrifices his life twice for Gohan, then stays dead out of understanding that the threats come to Earth for HIM, so that Gohan can grow up to become a scholar like he WANTS, and all anyone talks about is how Piccolo is the better father, totally neglecting everything important Goku does for his son If Goku really was as bad a father as y'all who only seem to have watched Abridged say he is, the timeline would NEVER move past Future Trunks's timeline, because even with Trunks's help, history would just repeat itself, because Goku would never care to train Gohan, and Gohan would be left the lone warrior of the future once more, with nothing but the bare ass basics of training under his belt he got before the Saiyans arrived

I actually missed most of The Cell Saga. I started watching when American Dragonball was new. Seeing the episodes was a matter of tuning in at the right time. My folks had this annoying habit of grabbing the TV Guide as soon as it arrived. I usually did not know where it was.

God that comparison is so freaking lame. Piccolo has many times how Gohan is like a brother to him don't forget Piccolo is only 4 years older than Gohan.

Can we just admit that piccolo had a big change of heart, all because of Gohan. That's where we saw that piccolo has become and strong and kind ally.

He was born the reincarnation of the evil part of Kami but he became his own person. It wasn't Gohan or anyone. Piccolo was good from the start and fought the evil nature he was assigned just like Goku

Piccolo played the role of Gohan's father, friend, guardian, mentor and protector. He was always there for him. Gohan changed Piccolo's heart 😭.

It took so many years to get back for piccolo with all the saves he done for gohan. I think piccolo knows at that moment of when gohan did protect him in the tournament of power that gohan doesn't need to be protected anymore but stand by him instead.

Piccolo was basically Gohan's second father and in some ways was a better father than Goku, as much as it kills me to say. Piccolo sacrificing himself for Gohan is the most underrated moment in the DB world.

Goku sacrificed himself to save Gohan against Raditz, that's the very first big fight of the series, he kinda did do it before Piccolo, not that Piccolo's isn't a heartwrenching moment, but y'all need to cut Goku some slack, he died TWICE for Gohan, one simply to rescue him, from his own BROTHER, mind you, and another in fixing what was effectively Gohan's greatest mistake, not killing Cell

I love the relationship that Piccolo has as Gohan's Dad-Uncle-Brother-Friend. Although Dragon Ball isn't big on feelings, I'm thankful that this is one that they decided to focus on. I like how you put the scenes from before the battle, as if we're in Piccolo's head during his thought process. This scene always makes me emotional, but you managed to kick it up a notch. Keep up the great work!!

I agree. People often forget that some scenes are meant to be treated as being simultaneously happening. Not one after the other.

This is one of the most epic and badass scenes of all time.

The friendship of tien and chiatzu also was heartbreaking moments of true warrior’s sacrifice, sayayin saga was special.

Well at least in battle anime. It gives them more purpose to fight. There are 3 fights in all of anime that I would say really defined what it meant to take the power of loss and use it. Goku turning super sayian for the first time. Kuwabara fake dying to toguro so Yusuke can access his spirit energy, and then in return when he died so his team could experience that pain and access greater heights. Yu Yu

We all love a good hero story that’s what I feel like happened. They turned piccolo from a villain to a hero. It was still such an emotional and great scene to happen. And it caused gohan another power boost

People do like to shit on Piccolo for choosing to stand in front of Gohan instead of grabbing him and getting out of the way, but if you look at the width of the attack from the way the ground is razed, it's not that hard to realize there was no time for that. I mean, flying is a thing, but...ehh.
