I made this weekend and it turned out awesome! I was trying to remember how my Mom made it but couldn't remember exactly. I followed your instructions and, although not my Mom's guisado, it came out pretty close. I used diced tomatoes and added diced green chile along with some fresh jalapenos instead. Also, my sister adds some chicken bouillon once the water starts boiling. Not sure if it makes a difference. Good none the less and my family loved it. Thanks for sharing! Provecho! : )

I do the same but I add the tomato 🍅 sauce after frying the meat. I also can add real Roma tomatoes instead of can tomato sauce. I put in the blender first with real garlic and onion and the sauce comes out thick so no need for flour to thicken it. I use knorr chicken or beef bouillon flavor for taste. U can also try tacos dorados de picadillo which is yummy too when there is a few leftover picadillo. I get corn tortillas I fry it with oil and add picadillo and Monterey Jack cheese or cheddar and voila. Yummy 👍🏻

my aunts in mexico make it similar like you do. My mom worked 2 jobs a mother of 7, so she always managed to have a home cooked dinner for us, so i grew up using her short cuts! Thank you so much! 😊

Use garlic powder not garlic salt.

Best picadillo in the world is at Ideal Bakery in Rosenberg, Tx!!! Not sure what spices they use, but it is unbelievably good! So is their carne guisada!

You should start measuring your ingredients to get bn it down to an exact recipe, and write it down. Your kids would thank you in the future, nothing like the real deal in order to get the same home flavor when they get older...js...good video

I sort of agree with that. My mom used to cook without measurements and so therefore I was always discouraged to learn how to cook from her. I would ask her "how long do you cook xxx?" and she would say "until it's cooked" or "until it looks like it's cooked"???? I didn't learn to cook food well until I was maybe in my late 40's and pretty much taught myself.

My grandma never measured anything! Best thing to do is get the kids in the kitchen and teach them! Weird I know, but I know if I got the seasonings for my grandma’s recipes just right by smell.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If I hadn’t been in the kitchen working with her, I would never have known how to make these dishes and my littles wouldn’t get to enjoy them now. She’s been gone almost 16 years and cooking her dishes keeps the memories alive and my kids know her through her food.

You’re exactly what I’ve been looking for for comfort Mexican food recipes. My grandma can’t give me recipes bc she said it’s hard bc she doesn’t know measurements. She’s old style lol But she used to cook this for us all the time. It was my favorite. I always wish I had paid more attention to her in the kitchen. Ironic bc she always had me helping her in the kitchen 😭 gotta be up early tomorrow but ima get some more recipes for my list tomorrow!! Thank you for sharing ❤️

The JayLi Life so I made this tonight and my 7yo said it tasted good but also tasted like throw up 😭😭 lmao I liked it but I guess he’s too good for my food. He hugged me and was like no it still tastes good, you did a good job 😭 yea ok, whatever! I don’t normally cook with comino so I think that’s what it was 😂
