Ah.. an old bat that doesn't tune or stay in tune... sounds like a pain. Is your room air-conditioned in all seasons? On a different note, any tips on the huge leap in the opening of Beethoven's Sonata No. 29, Op. 106? Some pianists cheat by using two hands.

I notice you looking at the keyboard when doing the leap. That doesn’t seem like much of a challenge.

Thanks for the tip, but you piano could use some overdue tuning!

Damn right! It's really an old boat, and my piano tuner swore last time she tuned it that it would be the last time because it takes her 3 hours. Basically it is an old piano which does not tune or stay in tune easily, and I would like to learn to do it myself!

it probably means that the key block has dried out, so there is not enough resistance to keep the pins tight.

My theory, those really serious about the whys and hows of music should all be learning piano tuning while learning to play. Like building from the foundations on up. I'm studying piano tuning concurrently with learning to play. Very satisfying, and my 108 yr old lady Rose (C Bechstein) will be happy having her sweet temperament cared for.
