I watched Solid Gold religiously, every week. I still have most of the episodes on VHS, 41 years later. To this day, I watch those ancient VHS tapes in my room, in secret, and masturbate to the lovely ladies. As a 10 yr old boy in 1981, I remember getting very, very aroused when I saw these ladies in tight satin panties (or whatever they were called) and shiny bras. I am eternally grateful to my elder sisters for taping Solid Gold on our parents' JVC VHS recorder. Amazingly, the picture quality, though degraded somewhat, is still acceptable today. You can still clearly see the ladies' camel toes in all their glory. I have never masturbated to any woman more than I have to Gayle Crofoot. I estimate that I have jerked off to Gayle roughly 9000 times in the last 41 years. She's just stunning. Even at age 69, Gayle looks fabulous. She's not fuc*able anymore, of course, but she still looks gorgeous.

I am a Japanese 61 years old. Around 1977 I had her poster on my room. She had a red dress. And still she had a long hair. Later she expanded into the United States. When my interest was fading, I knew this song. In British years she didn`t show even her shins. But in this video she has her crotch wide open wearing a leotard. Not considered to be from her British days. This action was shocking. I think I was surprised at the time watching a music video. I was surprised at how radical the change was. I guess she wanted to be free from her image. Now this is also a nostalgic memory.

Sheesh, I saw Olivia perform this song (lip sync) 16 or 17 times in '80 or '81. I applied for tickets to see the show 'Solid Gold' (Andy Gibb was hosting) and my girlfriend and I got in. Back then they just set up folding chairs (perhaps only 100 or so) right up againt a small circular and elevated stage and she was literally only a few feet from me when she swung by. I guess she is a perfectionist and she performed 16 or 17 takes of the complete song until she got it right - in her own mind. I thought they were all perfect. She even bent over and through me a little kiss. One of the best nights of my life.

I remember this like it was yesterday. I was 15 and totally in love with ONJ.
I've loved her since 1974 when I was in the fourth grade and in music class we learned HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MELLOW
This song is fantastic and a pop classic. Great and magical Olivia Newton Jhon. RIP. We are going to remember her beautifull voice and soul
I remember watching this episode of Solid Gold. I was a pre teen.
Her laugh to camera right at the end was just lovely......what a,lady she was. These days the girls just practice their mean scowl for the camera.....
How many female singer's today can do what Olivia Newton John showed her physical skills let alone sing truly a pleasure to watch n hear Olivia sing there would be hardly any ........ Respect and love to Olivia's memory .... heaven now has a beautiful angel 😍😍😍😍😍👍😃
Incredible how she can sing while moving like that. A great performer

Well she's a great singer but there are no live vocals in this video, in the 80s none of these shitty TV shows actually ever let artists perform live but just mime to a recording
I will never NOT Love Olivia, ❤️. My heart literally broke the day I got the news of her passing, 💔. Thank you for all that you gave us Olivia, you definitely left a beautiful footprint on this Earth. 🌹
I remember this. I was 14 and I used to watch Solid Gold every week. The sexual nature of the lyrics kinda went over my head at the time, it wasn't until I was practically an adult that I finally understood what that song was REALLY about. I didn't even know it was that controversial! Still a great song though, seeing this clip is bringing so many great memories of the 80's. Rest In Peace Olivia, you will always be one of my faves.🙏🕊

The song was first offered to Rod Stewart then Tina Turner, who both refused. Classic dance routine. ONJ really captured the moment. Aerobics, leg warmers, headband - I remember this style was extremely popular. I bought the 45 record. I remember this clip when it first was shown on Solid Gold!
Beautiful Olivia,, sing high with the Angels

I was a freshman in college in the fall of 1981, and this performance is such an iconic memory of my college years. If memory serves, this was the debut of the song before it was released as a single. I couldn't wait to get the 45 and then the LP and cassette when it arrived at the record store. Olivia has been my favorite performer since Have You Never Been Mellow. Truly saddened by her passing, but her music and movies and kindness will always LIV on!

Rest in Peace Olivia. Saw your show in Holmdel, NJ in 1982 and again in Las Vegas, NV in 2006. You are the best.

That's a great story Joe!!! I waited on her on the central coast of California in the early '80s, and you're right--as sweet and kind as you'd ever hope she'd be. I had the good fortune to enjoy a twenty yr marriage to a very attractive blonde (and the mother of my children) in real life and my obsession with Olivia had been something of a running joke. Good woman that she was (and still is) she tolerated and allowed me to indulge in a lifelong crush of Dame OLIVIA
