Phu Quoc Vinpearl Safari & Zoo [ English ] - Travel Vietnam
The Phú Quốc Safari has to be the best zoo I have ever had the chance to visit! I've been to many wildlife parks all over the world but this one blew me away. Excellent for kids or adults to spend a full day here in Phú Quốc Vietnam . You can dine with giraffes at the Phú Quốc Zoo. We will talk more about that later in the video so keep watching for more information.
If you're lazy and don't like to walk, there is a shuttle bus that will take you around the zoo. I personally like to just wander around and explore but it’s a good option if you have an elderly person in your group. It’s a very easy place to walk through. They make sure there is something to see every step of the way. Lots of interesting art to look at and places to take photos. They did a really fantastic job of the layout.
The Vinpearl Safari is the largest zoo in Vietnam. This 380 acres wildlife park is home to more than 3000 animals in over 150 different species. Some I have never seen before. The park consists of 2 parts, an open zoo and a Safari Park. They also have a kid zoo where it is safe to let your kids pet some goats. Apparently it's completely safe and they won't bite you. I asked to make sure. They have some little baby cubs here as well.
There is a lemur cage that you can go right inside to hang out with them. You can get really close to the animals. Most lemurs are small, have a pointed snout, large eyes, and a long tail. I think they are quite cute. The zoo keeper brings them out to interact with us for treats. Even though you can get real close to the animals in here they suggest that you don't pull their tail. I don't think they like that.
The zoo had a very large monkey exhibit. The animals are very well taken care of here. Especially compared to other animal parks I’ve been to where they don't take the animals needs into so much consideration. This fabulous wildlife park has very large roomy areas for the animals to hang out in. It’s like they are in the wild but without predators to eat them. Some even have their own little house and bring their friends over to chat about monkey stuff.
Next is the bird sanctuary. It's hard to miss as there is a giant tiki dude out front. They have 2 sections. An indoor area which I found to be very noisy but they did have some parrots. I think parrots are pretty cool just because they are so smart for a bird. The main area is a very large outdoor artificial environment that was quite breathtaking. They even had a waterfall in there. The birds have little hanging feeders with an all you can eat buffet of maggots. Yummy! For them I guess. Encase I was making you hungry, up top after you cross the bridge, they have a restaurant up there on the second level but they were also sold out of coffee. They sold beer here though which I thought was surprising.
You can tell this place is really well funded.
But that also reflects in the price. It is much more expensive than other zoos in South East Asia.
Finally! I found myself a coffee at the giraffe restaurant.
This is the best part of the zoo in my opinion but not just because they sell coffee.
The giraffes, eat carrots right out of your hand. Who doesn't want to feed a giraffe? Such an interesting restaurant idea for a zoo.
Cost about 30K to get some grub for these beautiful long necked creatures.
They’re very gentle and friendly so it’s safe for children to feed the animals.
You can see all the parents trying to desperately get the best video of their child feeding the giraffes.
As you can see they have a really long tongue. This was the first time I was able to get soo close to one of these beautiful animals.
Was definitely my favorite part of the zoo and I highly recommend it.
Right after the restaurant is the Safari. You can see its big gate down the road. The Safari tour was pretty cool. Felt like I was in Africa for a day. It's nice to see the animals living in an open habitat instead of small cages.
The first exhibit was the tigers. They were really hard to see. I think most of them were sleeping or not feeling all that sociable. If you want to see tigers the zoo exhibit was much better. I was able to get a nice shot of a tiger cleaning himself.
They separate certain animals with a double layered gate so they don't eat each other. One gate fully closes and is checked before the next one will open.
Some zebras, and some rhinos which were really incredible to see. Did you know that only around 27,000 rhinos remain in the wild today. Very few rhinos survive outside national parks and reserves due to persistent poaching and habitat loss over many decades.

Vietnam is really only communism by name. Nothing is free but there is something for every budget.
