Phu Chi Fa means cliff pointing to sky and the name certainly describes this place. It is a 1628 m high mountain top east of Chiang Rai and the peak is a borderpoint between Thailand and Laos. It is a well known tourist attraction among thai people, perhaps not so well known among foreigners (farang). We went up there to watch the sunrise at six o`clock in the morning. But we missed the sunrise due to cloudy weather. Although it was a breathtaking experience to watch the sea of clouds that blanket the valleys on the Laos side of the mountain underneath the peak .Especially when they floated over the hills and down into the valleys.
