You can buy the sheet music for a 3 pounds from Edition Records. It's a 15/8 then 7/8, then 15/8 and finally 10/4. Go support them and buy it. it is paid to them directly. It has no Chords. Jasper told me that het let's Ivo select the chords while playing.
Jazz is not dead, it's Alive!
Everything is present here: ostinates, freeform, high energy, poetry, high level of communikation. Thanks so much.😂 Greetings per trolle
THIS IS JUST IN ANOTHER LEAGUE........... WITH POSSIBLY THE BEST DRUMMER ON THE PLANET
this has been the best thing I've heard for three years now.
That bass player is actually one of the best I've ever seen
It's a "Reflexion Filter", basically a curved foam pad around the mic which sucks out the room's acoustic. It makes the bass sound as tight as possible in an open room. Usually used on vocals in a studio, but put to good use here.
Superb group of three...innovative modern jazz music
And please youtube, ( google) dont put the commercials in the middle of a tune, thanks. Keep them before and after the Music.
Thanks for the positive comments! Who's heard the new album, Life To Everything?

Love every album. Only wish you'd come to Denmark again. Heard you play in Kolding. Can't wait for next time!
I was at a Mark Guiliana Quartet concert two nights ago so it is great to come across this upload of the fabulous Phronesis with Mark in the drum chair. Am I alone in thinking that Guiliana is possibly one of the most innovative drummers to emerge since Tony Williams?
There are no words that can adequately praise that musical achievement. Bravo and good luck.
I was lucky to see the Mark Guiliana Quartet at the Oloron Jazz festival in France a few weeks ago. Guiliana is an astonishing drummer -one gets the same hairs on end feeling as when Tony Williams first came on the scene. I really like this trio -there is definitely something happening everytime they play-jazz is in a really good place right now!
Love it, love it , love it!
Yes!! Now that is MUSIC!!!!
Fantastic!
Simply brilliant. Wow.
woah!!!!!! Love this
So good... Thanks

かっこええぇ…。
wow!
I love this :) Its really fresh, authentic but so classic too! :)
Man... that drumming!
YES gutsy & nice... energy and concision, urgent to the depth.
Intensely good.
Fantasticamente................. fantastici!!! la più grande idea che il jazz moderno potesse partorire.......
cool!
A terrific trio-I only got to hear them comparatively recently so I'm still catching up with all their albums; It is a great era for piano/bass/drums trios.
Kicks ass of all of us!
I liked this track ever since I heard it on Resonance FM
this will now be the official Phronesis youtube account! Come and join us @ musicphronesis' :)
Nice one Jasper. I like your stage presence and shirt.
woo!
The bass tell this story...
ill,...ill take your word for it
bISBis HEARD today at Dutch music show Free Sounds surprising out of the box !
genius
Don't count....feel and listen!
Phronesis are playing at the Southbank centre this 5th April. I'm going...
pretty smart to put a Mic Screen in front of the bassist... makes for such a cleaner sound. I'm gonna borrow this idea
Man there has to be a better video of this legendary performance!
anyone seen them now lockdowns sort of easing up ? last time i saw them was prob 2018 in london. Would love to go see them again in concert
This is the sequence after those 2 quavers. In brackets is note length (quavers) A capital means the note is above the previous, small below. E(3) E(2) f(2) F(1) g(1) d(1) c(2) D(3) C(1) D(1) d(2) D(2) eflat(2) D(1) g(1) thud(1) A(1) B(1) D(1) E(1). 30 “quavers”, hope that helps. I favour 4,2,4,5. That gives you a four bar riff and the first and 4th bar have almost identical rhythms. Lot’s of syncopated notes make it difficult to pin down. I like puzzles.
jeeeez.....
Burning.
9/8 plus 6/8
Is this in 15/8? Or 6/8 & 9/8? Amazing
at 2:40 so far aside from the odd meters it's all inside . at 4:20 it starts to go out a bit but not overly so: very interesting and heartfelt yeah I guess I am a fan .

if you count in quarter notes, it's a 4/4, but they use weird subdivisions (or however you want to put it, I don't the right name for it. syncopation maybe). anyways, go ahead, count.

+Max Sergeant oh nevermind, forget what I said, it isn't true
Grazie a EST...
You know .................instead of trying to debate who is the best muso etc etc [Its totally subjective and cannot be established actually].................just LISTEN and LEARN and ENJOY .........20, 30 40 years from now you're in a 6 foot hole anyway ! I like the what they are trying to do .............a big change from another recording of 'Smoooooth Jazz '
someone tell me wat time sig this is...im thinking...a 10 then 5..
its in 7/4 subdivided as one bar 3/4 and one bar 4/4
Not an upright bass player....but I'd be willing to bet that this is not an easy piece to play. And of course Mark is absolutely shredding it
thall
This is one of the best new bands that play jazz, today young jazz bands are sh****** but this one is really GREAT!!!Just go on guys that's the music people need today!!!! Congratulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its something new but still good!! : D
9.00 WHAT
Ugh...sick! Wish I could see the bassist's right hand.
You could be right, but I hear it more as 7+8?
Pretty sure its just straight up 15, don't know if its split up.
It's a 15/8 mesure? A 6/8 plus a 9/8 anyone?
150/1 time
I'm pretty sure its 6/8 then 9/8
that's the way to end a set a wouldn't even leave my seat to pee (•_-_|m/
thumbs up if mashing the keyboard and googling the product brought you here hurr durr but true story yo.
..reminds me Jaco..but acoustic..
This sounds EXACTLY like Avishai Cohen. Of course Guiliana played with Cohen, so the drumming is familiar. Sounds good and great tone on bass. But still sounds exactly like Avishai.

This bassist seems much better technically and able to keep a beat much better than Cohen though. Compositions arent quite as good as Cohen's, on the other hand
