Phrasal Verbs As Nouns
Has a teacher ever asked you to make up a class? Did you think he wanted you to decorate the classroom? Or did you understand he wanted you to do the class again? Did you ever have to back up as you were making a backup CD because something went wrong? Confused? This lesson explains some of the changes in sound and meaning when we join phrasal verbs to make nouns. Once you've watched the video, take the quiz: www.engvid.com/phrasal-verbs-...

Thank you very much Adam for all this job you do on EngVid.com. There are so many aspects which can be explained only by native speaker. It's very cool that you can teach in a such entertaining manner)

Adam, you are such a nice person. And your lessions are very helpful and interersting. Thanks a million!
Thank you Teacher you are great !!
The ironic part is that people learning the English language, having mastered it, will have a much better understanding of it than native English speakers. This lesson, for instance. I never really considered this distinction, but took it for granted.
Many thanks, mr.Adam!

*This is my sixth lesson!*
Way good teacher!
nice lesson
Nice lesson as usual! Congrats Adam!!! Best teacher on line!!! Just one question, after watching your video and I made the quiz and got 90% out 100%. I got wrong the question about pull up and pull over. Don't they have a similar meaning about having a vehicle stop? Thank you for your answer.
So, Make-up can be used a phrasal verb, phrasal noun and an adjective as well.
Thanks boss
Nice............

How cool was that! This is a great lesson for English students. But I think nowadays IELTS are too respected in social, I presume. Do you think like me? :)))
I would request you, Adam, kindly to give the synonyms of the words you explain, so that the meanings are clear to us.... Thanks!!
thanks
Adam, please make a video about ellipsis
Could be that getup as a noun needs a hyphen?
Hi Adam, Would you please explain us the expressions,1- that is my friend and 2- that is a friend of mine.My best thanks.
🤗
Could you tell me why I could totally understand what you said? but when I went to watch a movie, I still couldn't understand what they were saying?
Adam i really love the way you teach eng. ;)
There are plenty of useful points for ESL students such as the explanations regarding the different speeds at which the phrasal verbs are pronounced contrary to the noun and adjective forms. Good video.
vui quá Tết ơi
what about 'getting up early'
Sorry Adam, as an educated, born and bred Englishman, I have never done a "makeup exam". I had to scroll back and listen two or three times to understand. Maybe in your part of the English speaking world it is correct, but in England it's never used.

+Chris Gilbert I am a South African and can confirm that a "makeup exam" also is not widely used, but in itself, the idea of doing a makeup exam is not a common tendency at least through my school and college years. Nevertheless, the term 'makeup exam' would likely be understood by the typical English-speaking South African.

Thanks for the input Grant,I actually live and work in Gauteng and am married to an English speaking South African, so will ask around.
thank you very much
why don´t you make sentences, written examples,on this words?
so cofusing ! XD so many different meanings
Well, really Phrasal Verbs are a part in english grammar very complicated... It's important be careful with it.
thank you
You'd better not fail a cosmetics exam, or you'd have to make up the makeup text.
Can someone PLEASE tell me hat the deal is with these hifens? why do some words have them and some just don't? like check-in instead of checkin. Why??? is there some kind of rule or something, because it seems bizarrely arbitrary
Makeup sex?!😲😃 Wow, I wouldn't expect SUCH an example in the English teaching video material! Very straightforward! And tantalising 😉.
