I am! I practice just the strumming when watching tv sometimes keeping the strings muted. It helps but I have a long way to go to get it right.

Also, I think you can focus and take more time to explain the strumming patterns. Like do the strumming example slowly.

I do the strumming pattern like this: Down mute mute Down mute mute Down mute And repeat... (I just wanna share that I mute the strings by doing a knock on the fretboard. Tho Im not sure if it's considered as muting or tapping lol)
