Phonte - No News Is Good News Album Review | DEHH
Музыка
Phonte returns with a new solo album after a seven-year hiatus. ‘No News Is Good News’ dropped on March 3, 2018, and has features from Freddie Gibbs, Carmen Rodgers, Fokis, Lute, Dornik, and Eric Roberson. Phonte hasn’t been absent from the scene as he continues to put out albums as a member of Foreign Exchange but we haven’t had an album from him since 2011’s Charity Starts At Home. Here is the Dead End Hip Hop review of Phonte’s ‘No News Is Good News’ album.

austin he is not a culture vulture (at least not im that subject maybe with the jamaican shit) I mean the man is more a fucking trendsetter. Migos, Kodak Black and more wouldnt exist if he didnt gave him his platform. Even though he stole their styles he at least helped them. Cant call it appropriation. More like assistance

Phonte is so underrated! For me he is one of the most talented emcee’s out there. Hope he will deliver us more albums often. “No News is Good News” is 10 out of 10 for me! 🙌

that good? I just listened to his last album and bought instantly. That came out out 7 years ago. Last year I thought tyler's flower boy was great instantly and almost won the grammy
Expensive Genes & Cry No More alone makes this an auto-cop. Can't wait for the physicals.
Phonte too cold!
Can’t wait for prhyme 2 review
Damn was just listening to this when I got this notification. Dope album. Shame b/c I already know people are gonna sleep on this project

Was waiting on this review tight work!!!
Tigallo to the Rescue!!! Definitely one of the best in 2018..much love to yall for reviewing this.
I knew Tall Black Guy was on this album!!! As soon as Sweet You started playing, I recognized that signature style. And that Dornik - On My Mind sample.... such a dope track!!!!
You guys get me so hyped to listen to these albums
I remember hearing the full album on KZread shortly after it was released. I listened to the whole thing in one sitting and immediately bought a physical copy.
There’s a reason why eLZhi, Phonte, and SKYZOO been my TOP 3 for awhile now. Been like that for a minute now! With Sean Price being the 4th RI.P!!!
The Minstrel Show was the first album I remember listening to. So Phonte will always be in my top 5 and he proved why with this album.
Excited to see this in the sub box but I’m still waiting on that Sylvan LaCue album Apologies In Advance Review
Great review, thanks for reviewing this. Please review Murs new album or at least a Myke C Town review.
The begining had me crying
What do we have to do to get DEHH to review Skyzoo's ' In Celebration of Us' . I can not fully understand how that album is being ignored by the majority of hip-hop even while Evidence, Apathy, Nipsey, and others are being lauded for their albums. Its really strange that Skyzoo and Sylvan Lacue's albums are being ignored at a time when their messages are soo relevant and they were executed beautifully. I am surprised that Knnge specifically has not made mention of it.

Especially Sylvan's album. As far as I know there isn't one album before his that had its concept which is amazing af. I need not specifically DEHH but the genre itself to get their ears on it ASAP. You think it's possible the guys doesn't realize it's QuESt though? Name change, style change, and even appearance change since he dropped Searching Sylvan and Broken Headphones

Sylvan LaCue's album has WAYYY too many interludes.
@Esthiem

Joseph Bergeron It's part of the albums theme though because that's how an AA meeting would actually go. The person over the meeting presents the topics and you go around the room getting opinions/personal stories that relate to it. Once everyone seems to fully understand the topic and what they themselves can do to apply it to their life you move on to the next. Plus it's not like he did what Logic did and tagged them all at the end or beginning of a song. You can just skip them if you don't feel like listening to them that go round
@darrylmiller9643
6 жыл бұрын
Joseph Bergeron, with regards to the skips I understand what you are saying but I think that Zai// sentiment is relevant her. Breezy speaks about short albums being the best way to go about making an album, and I agree to an degree. I believe that part of the reason that we love short albums is that our attention span has greatly decreased over the years. If you look at any medium whether it be novels, movies, music, or news articles over the last century we have become less likely to sit down and absorb things fully. We want a shortened version of everything. This album requires that we absorb the transitions, and those skits do not play like your normal interludes: they are more of a meditative look into the struggle within the mind of an artist. The songs that follow each skit is presented as the proactive attempt of resolving the issue presented in the meeting. It was done brilliantly in my opinion. Granted, it forced me to sit down with the album and absorb it as if I was watching a television series. ....but that was the point.
Phonte album was 💯 percent glad y’all did a album review on this hope he goes out on tour for this album
This is an top tier album this year along with Prhyme 2 and Jericho Jackson.

What is that instrumental at the beginning??
Freddie gibbs was going off. I listened to a few tracks. Smooth tunes
When he said “Cashews on sale, I might treat myself”.
Phonte is the GOD, GET IT TOGETHER, He is HIP HOP, he just took Back to 9th Wonder Dayz.

CHEFDEISEL88 ... Right.. Even on Charity Starts At Home he had 5 or 6 songs where he was dropping the best bars I ever heard and his flows were as good as they've ever been... Dance In The Reign, Everything is Falling Down, We Go Off, Eternally, The Life of Kings, etc... That album still hasn't gotten old after 7 years
Feefo and his Spider Senses 😂😂
Yes he did. Phonte been the same since the listening.

Mozart Mozart I hope so, they ignored the Tech N9ne, Ces Cru, Stevie Stone, and Rittz albums. Murs would be the only artist on Stranger they would review at that point.
Te pays homage to Cannibal Ox -The Cold Vein in Such Is Life. That was fire. Heads know
it was probably Vlad who said Phonte can't rap. Album was fire
