Met Jim Redman at the Denia Classic Racing Revival in España a few years ago, very approachable man. he wasn't riding, he had a stall selling memorabilia...

Phil Hill ? Mind you Ready couldn't keep up with little Bill Ivy. As an aside ,being on holiday in the Isle of Man in 1978 I think ,when Ready 'overcame' his dislike of the 'dangerous' course,(something to do with the money I believe),we were in the company of a Honda mechanic in a hostelry which escapes me ,who quoth," If Ready can't catch Hailwood , he'll rev it to destruction on the mountain ". History tells that story. RIP Mike ,the greatest.

Back in the 60s my mate rode with Phil Reads helmet colours I had Mike Hailwoods. Don’t underestimate how good Phil Read was. He was just as good as Bill Ivy. But not as good as Mike.

Great bit, too bad about Jim. I met Phil at Laguna Seca 1987 when he came to race with us... CVRG event at AMA National, he rode G50 but I recall issues with the bike owner. I met Jim at Daytona many years ago,and i think 1999 was the year I helped Jim re-start 250-6 Honda... it died right where we were pitted with our WCBR-Ducati's; Have some great laughes with Jim, DelMar, CA 1996 was a real giggle. Sad Phil has left us... Cheers to Jim! MG #21
