I think actors and writers are way more multidimensional than how we experience them on television. People usually get typecast, and we don't actually WANT to see them in any other light than what we're used to. I feel like Phoebe Waller-Bridge challenges this in the coolest way. However, I also think that's part of why she didn't want to do Killing Eve. It seems to me like she likes pulling the strings behind the curtain, and she also understands society very well. Hence why she decided not to go on Instagram

Fleabag is the most outstanding writing I've seen on TV in a very long time. Fleabag is what happens when a writer has the talent, but also the know-how and craftsmanship to pull off and actualize that talent. It's magnificent in every single way. Bravo to PWB and everyone involved in that, but mainly to Phoebe because she's the heart and soul of every line and every frame.

Fleabag is also what happens when a network allows for such a talent to showcase her work with complete freedom...something I think the UK TV does better than in the US (except for HBO)

@@thomasriveramontes9550 Oh absolutely, other networks (I think even HBO, but of course I could be wrong) would never have given this amount of artistic freedom to a first-timer show runner who wasn't exactly a 'star'.

Phoebe is a quadruple threat, she can create, write, direct and act. I'm so delighted to see her in one of these round tables, I hope more people discover her and her work.

That distinction you made between writing and creating is so important because crafting a screenplay and crafting a show are two entirely different things and the fact that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is able to do both is awe-inspiring.

Great show, second season is the best.

If ever met PWB, I'd cool as ya like politely say, "Oh, hello Phoebe, love your work.", then turn around and excitedly mouth "OMFG!" to an imaginary audience in the hope that one person behind me, just one, would see the whole thing get a laugh out of it.

This woman’s projects and interviews put me in such a catharsis state. Thank you Phoebe for providing the world your talent! I love Killing Eve, but Fleabag laid my deep inner thoughts and emotions out in front of me to confront in a major way and speaking to my SOUL on an incredible level. I only hope to get just as an evolved and accepting S2 finale in real life as Fleabag got❣️

Yes, please, full roundtable. All this kickass women... I think the only series I´ve discovered this year that I´ve truly felt where exactly what I want to write and keep watching in the future were Lyonne´s Russian Doll and Bridge´s two seasons of Fleabag.

Love Phoebe, an all-around talented lady with the ability to bring creativity in her mind to life and share it with us on the screen.

For a young woman who strugling with her cynical&critical sound in herself,watching some women speaks and behaves what they actually think makes me feel more free and hopeful about myself .Thanks to PWB for writing those women and give us an inspiraion to speak about that fucking original thoughts and be more like what we actually are. And btw she is doing it for liberating herself too and she feels a relief through her characters, thats why she is so original and outstanding for TV.

I love Phoebe Waller Bridge so much, and respect her as a writer. I wish I could have seen her talk about her writing process. Killing Eve is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I want to watch Fleabag now, because the character and her family sounds like mine.

I simply love it how all other incredible, talented women just really listen to Phoebe when she is speaking. It goes to say they all resonate to some degree with her experiences. She is thus kind of speaking for them too.

Best comedic find of 2019 for me!!!

Clearly this round table should be its own series with all these brilliant voices.

Now that's what I call a great panel - with two of my absolute, all-time, gotta watch favorites - Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Maya Rudolph.

I absolutely love her! I mean, all the ladies on this roundtable but I already knew them, Phoebe's work is pretty knew to me and she has swept me off my feet

Creative mind with an ability to assess the pulse of audience. Not many have that kind of multi facet talent. Well deserved BAFTA 👍👍

So happy to see phoebe is getting the recognition she deserves... Fleabag is one of the best comedy shows out there... it’s nuts, but most importantly, clever and hilarious.

4:12 I can relate to that from the opposite side. I was a pretty boy back when I was 17-22. Being called "beautiful" is the best compliment. However, I still to this day get paranoid about people thinking that automatically makes you gay. So I run from my identity as I don't want to be forced into an identity that is defiantly not me. I know exactly who and what I am. I'm a Tom girl. I like girls very much, so much so that I want to be one, spiritually speaking.. Well, depends on what "she" thinks. I'm very obedient to "The One"

What a special person very talented... Fleabag is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Every part of every episode is genius

Phoebe is just so modest and grounded.

Fleabag is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. It is just so fresh, full of so many surprises and is just plain fun! And Phoebe Waller-Bridge is just amazing. Great writer. Great actor. I only regret that the series has ended!

I don't think so. She signed a multi-year contract making shows for Amazon Prime. If she were to be back writing KE, Amazon would have to be OK with it or there's a out on her contract to do so.

I also grew up a tomboy and when someone called me a boy or referred to sthng I did as “man’s job”, I felt proud..being called a girl or girlie was shameful..now in my 30s and listening to women from various generations feeling the same.. I feel a little bad. Probably we “girls” were scared to be pigeon holed into what normal girl future trajectories and opportunities were, and still are, we didn’t want to be identified as girls 🤔

the different between pure actress and someone like phoebe is that, one talk without content, just purely performance to get attention, then there is phoebe

It’s refreshing to hear women discuss their rejection of gender norms during their formative years as part of a normal transition to womanhood. We should give young boys the same freedoms of expression. I think this social experiment Should be over where we slap the “trans” label on everyone who has ever experimented with gender. I tend to think rather than being quick to “fix” people with therapy, hormones, or surgery, we ought to let young people play out the natural course of development and fix society’s reaction to it. Heck, even into adulthood... who cares how people identify.

Am i the only one who thought fleabag was a bit rubbish? I didn't like any of the characters. Phoebe is obviously talented, Killing Eve is actually phenomenal and i love everything about it. I find the leads way more likeable despite one being a serial killer lol

I didn't care at all for the first series of Fleabag. What is remarkable is just how good she managed to make the second series.

Unfortunately the second series never takes off - no comparison with season 1.
