I'll try to summarize here as much as I can. They said that a subway system is now being considered for Phnom Penh. Many subway stations will be built and the system could possibly go as far as Kandal province. The project will also involve Cambodian engineers who were educated abroad and are now capable of handling projects of this scale. Earlier, Japanese organizations JICA had studied a skytrain project, but the impact of the construction would be too much. The budget for the JICA project is also a problem because Cambodian rural areas also need many bridges constructions, so the government cannot allocate all the infrastructure here in Phnom Penh. In the immediate future, the priority of helping alleviate traffic problems in Phnom Penh falls on the construction of more flyover bridges and 3 bridges crossing the rivers.
