Phinehas - The Storm In Me

Pull me out of the water
Pull me out of the sea
Pull me out of the water
Don't let the waves take me
I walked on the surface I was pulled beneath
Pull me out of the water
Pull me out of the sea
Pull me out of the water
Before nothings left of me
In all of this I've only learned how to sink
Your promise feels worthless
A mere thread sent down
It's not enough when you're drowning
Waves raise their thunder I'm sent further underneath
I'm not strong enough to calm the storm in me
I'm swimming like the stone in my heart
Watching everything fall apart
I don't want to drown alone
I don't want to drown alone in my dark
My lungs are filling till my chest wants to burst
I tried to carry all of it but I'm at my worst
I thought that I was strong enough to stay afloat
But when the storm rolled in with a bitter wind the waves broke
I don't want to drown alone in my dark
A free fall now into the grip of the void that crushes my ribs
All of the weight I carry inside
Every dagger at once in my mind
Pulled under screaming with the tide
Left at the bottom, left behind
In all of this I have only learned how to sink
I'm not strong enough to calm the storm in me

The tears are still streaming down my cheeks, man. It all welled up within and i swear, my first teardrop fell right when the screams came in. I’ve spent most of my adult life with multiple disorders being on meds and at the end of rope so many times like i wanted to fold my cards in life. Couldn’t go thru with that gamble even though i attempted suicide once. Yet I saw in a vision the One who bled and died to give me life standing over me in that darkest moment. This is my song of the year and for the rest of my days on earth.

My 70 year old mother has historically only listened to Gordon Lightfoot/Abba style bands. I showed her "Fleshkiller" and a few songs from this album, and she loved it. She's a Phinehas fan now.

This song reminds me of Psalms 88, one that is very dear to me. I’ve battled many tough mental issues and have hidden the darker sides of myself from everyone and like a black hole, that darkness unexposed to the light drags me under, Like an imploding feeling, and this so artistically hits that feeling. Favorite song

@@Renaisance01990 I still struggle every day friend. As levi the poet once put it, "You are NOT floating alone in this awful void" ... ...and I'm more and more convinced every day that when it says Christ Died, He descended into each and every one of our voids, our darkness's, our hells, where we are all trapped, and alone to plant the seed of His faithfulness, in each of us. That includes you. That includes me, and everyone else that feels too much in this reality.

“Darkness is my closest friend”. That hits hard. I thank God everyday for purifying me and pulling me out from those worldly forsaken trenches. Now that I’m on the other side I can only see it as a blessing, not everyone gets to experience the spectrum of life. You realize only the power of Christ can save.

The lyrics in this one got me weeping at my desk. Such a relatable, desperate cry. Shared it with one of my pastors, and they noted Psalm 69. Production-wise, the vocal effects and texture at 1:04 is absolutely perfect the theme of this song. AOTY. Just give Phinehas the merit badge now.

John the Water Baptizer represented the days of Noah, when God restarted humanity through flood. He said another will come to baptize with Fire. Christ said, as in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the End. The two witnesses have called down the Lake of Fire, to purify the Earth of wickedness and sin. We don't have much longer here on Earth, but those that believe and hold steadfast to the Creator, the Most High, Jesus Christ Almighty; shall be saved and live eternally with Him.
