Lol dangerous ha ha
Great video. Nice to see retro tech get the love it deserves. When you only had sound out of one speaker and it wasn't speaker or cable I was thinking a bad capacitor. Recently I fixed my Super Game Boy for the SNES. It had sound only out of one channel and that was due to a bad capacitor. I replaced all the caps and it works great. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers.

Thanks mate, yeah I was thinking capacitors but having a look how the speakers connected upto the jack and how reflowing got it to work temporarily I thought let's take that off and give it a good clean and hey presto dumb luck really

No sound from ether speaker; leaky electrolytic capacitors, resistor failed infinite resistance, dirty switch contacts in headphone jack [disconnects speakers when headphone plugged in], volume pot is dirty or power transistor for stereo channels in the amplifier have failed 😉
Great work .

Thank you! Cheers!
did you try the tapedeck? was that a suitable belt?
"sorry for the hiccups but subscribe anyway" - utterly shameless 😂 You've done well to get a Philips tape deck of that era that actually works properly - those Orange-coloured gears are made of a soft plastic that melts - nicknamed "cheese gears" for good reason! I used to swear by Philips back in the day but looking back, they were nowhere near the quality of Sony or Panasonic, or even Sanyo to be brutally honest.
