Philips One by Sonicare Battery vs Rechargeable
Jon lists out the key differences between the Philips One battery and rechargeable versions of this brush.
I did forget to mention the price difference in the video. The Philips One Battery is $24.99 vs the $39.99 of the rechargeable.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for!
There is another VERY important difference - user replaceable battery. Let's use them for say 5 years. Rechargeable one will no longer hold the charge and need to be thrown away. Battery operated one will still work as good as "day one". You could even use rechargeable AAA batteries with it. It will be no problems to replace them when they will not hold a charge anymore.

5 years with the same toothbrush though? What if the electric motor goes out? What if Philips stops making the brush head after just a few years? I see what you're getting at, but I doubt anyone will own this same toothbrush more than a few years. It's not like it used to be, people always want the "new and latest" of everything.

@@UNPOCOLOCO444 3-5 years ownership is probably realistic. That's about how long I own a battery powered toothbrush before I either buy a new one, or it stops working.

@@UNPOCOLOCO444 no, a small minority of people want the new and latest of everything but manufacturers convinced us that they occupy a large enough sector of the market that we all have to put up with our stuff breaking early because they went to cater to the users that handed over the most cash while the rest of us begrudgingly had to accept it

My Sonicare from 2013 (or earlier) still works in 2023. I finally updated it only so I could get a pressure sensor which my dentist recommended. Both the motor and battery still work great! For a toothbrush like this, which is really great for people who want a cheap option and/or a travel specific toothbrush, I really like that they made this a choice. Personally, I like the a replaceable battery as a feature over a built-in rechargeable battery. I would use Eneloop rechargeable batteries, and that would be $3-$3.50 USD, well worth the $10 difference. I was concerned that maybe the built-in would have more power, but it seems to at least be on par if the battery life is 3x longer with the AAA battery.
thanks for the review I think I'm getting the battery one
Always thorough
I always come to your accounting if I need some thorough explanation! Als, What is the approximate life on the rechargeable one? (How many years?)

Hi Christine. We expect a battery on average to last around 5 years. No guarantee but that tends to be about average.
I got like 2-3 months with the chargeable one
I would very much value your opinion on the Philips Sonicare A3 Premium All-in-One brush head (available now). Please review. Thanks.

Hi William. I will be covering it in our upcoming 9900 Prestige review. I have to say it is impressive. From the moment I began using it, the cleaning felt more intense than other Sonicare brush heads.

@@ElectricTeeth Thank you. Looking forward to watching it.
Ouch! I hope they sell those bottoms as replacement parts. From my experience those types of things don't live long. They are not made for frequent usage and slot getting busted very easily(one can already see damage to it in the video).
Does the USB recharge with a C to C cable?
@somefuckstolemynick

I read somewhere you need to use USB-A to C. I haven't confirmed it though.
Is there any power difference between the two? Does one have more power (clean better) then the other? Thanks!

No they are the same. 👍
can a standard USB-c cable be used to charge? or is there something specific about the provided one? which I now don't have...

Not as far as I am aware. A standard USB cable 'should' work.

Worth checking the USB-C cable you are using is a 'charging cable' as you can potentially get just 'data cables'. But if that is the case then it is a bit concerning you can't use other cables. Not something I picked up on when testing.
Gust got a Philips one recharge great price compared to my other not witch the heads Cost 74 $ for 5 have had it for 4 year it is starting to work write
Which one cleans better?
@ElectricTeeth
2 жыл бұрын
They should clean the same. I certainly didn't detect any meaningful difference. The only difference as far as I am aware is the power source (removable or built-in battery).
Folks.. After looking at both, there is an issue of price: $37 for rechargeable vs. $17 for battery versions
@ElectricTeeth
Жыл бұрын
Indeed. Do be aware of the ongoing cost of replacement batteries though. Unless you are intending to use a rechargeable AAA.
So you’re saying the rechargeable one is rechargeable and the battery one takes batteries? Thank god you made this video, I would have been so lost 😂 Perhaps can you tell me if there’s any performance difference between the two? Or why you should choose one over the other. That’s really what I came here looking for
@ElectricTeeth
Ай бұрын
Just trying to be clear and factual. They perform the same. It's going to be personal preference as to which you prefer. I would generally recommend the rechargeable as for me this is more convenient. But someone travelling the world with nothing more than a backpack, might prefer the removable battery version because of the ease with which these can be sourced.
How do I get the cap off of the battery operated brush when it's stuck
@ElectricTeeth
Жыл бұрын
Maybe run some warm water over it? This might loosen things up, if it is stuck. Hold the brush upright so the water runs away from the battery compartment.

Sorry to read this. Did you contact Philips about this?
The battery itself doesn't last long. Mine lasts for only two months. Oh my gosh!
"I'm gonna get straight to the point" takes 70 seconds to explain that one is AAA powered and one is USB rechargeable
Would it have killed you to spend 10-15 more seconds showing and expanding on the rechargeable battery model’s low battery indicator and what it all means?

No, it wouldn't. At the time we didn't feel this level of detail was necessary when explaining the key differences. But as requested. Approx 40-60 brushings - solid white LED Approx 7-39 brushings - fading up and down white LED Approx 0 brushings - flashing amber LED + 5 beeps, twice
Rechargeable Electric Toothbrushes = Expensive Electric Toothbrushes Battery-Power Electric Toothbrushes = Cheap Electric Toothbrushes
@ElectricTeeth

Whilst this is generally the rule, I won't say it applied all the time.
@Magnulus76
2 жыл бұрын
That's generally true in my experience, with the provision that cheaper battery powered toothbrushes are often just as effective, but it's going to vary somewhat by the battery quality you use (most don't regulate the power going to the motor). A fresh alkaline battery is going to run faster than a nickle metal hydride battery, but will gradually lose performance as the battery loses stored energy.
Removeable battery version is better than rechargeable version
This toothbrush is making too much noise. My boyfriend has Oclean X Pro Elite, and I think it is the quietest electric toothbrush.

This sonicare doesn't work well and it has a very poor design.
