    I purchased this from Seattle Coffee Gear as I was sold on the pre-ground option. As she states, one scoop of coffee with the included scooper also matches the manufacturer's instructions. However, this will cause the machine to malfunction and will leave a terrible mess of grounds inside the machine. Even if you use slightly less grounds, more often than not, the machine will malfunction. Philips customer support says to use no more than 3/4 of a scoop which produces weak coffee rendering the pre-ground function useless. Seattle Coffee Gear will charge you return shipping as they pretend that the machine functions properly when it malfunctions when following both manufacturer's and Seattle Coffee Gear instructions. If you're interested in purchasing this machine, just note that the pre-ground feature does not function as advertised and Seattle Coffee Gear is not interested in making things right.

    This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact kzread.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

    Hi SCG, I've had this machine for the last few months. Can you help troubleshoot with bitter/sour shot? Obviously I know there's only so much that can be adjusted given that it's a super auto and it's probably underextracted... Current coffee/settings used: * Adjusted to max water temp * Finest ground setting * Coffee: Dogwood Coffee - Bear Hug Espresso purchased from SCG

    After seeing plenty of reviews on similar fully automatic machines, I finally decided to purchase EP2220/10. I can easily say that the coffee shots are very consistent. I had to make almost 10 cups to find my perfect grind settings for medium roast coffee beans. Set up to level 2 for now and getting very consistent shots. Frothing is good too, but pushes a lot of water along with the steam. I find it good value for money. Use medium roast and avoid oily dark beans.

    This machine is a PITA. I've used it for well over a year. The grounds are really wet when making an Americano type coffee and will grow mold really quickly before a weekly cleaning in my 50 to 55% humidity environment (when is not that humid). I actually have cycles were I go back to my Aeropress after cleaning this machine. My previous Saeco Moltio never had that issue, which I think is related to the overly wet grounds.

    You can put any pre-ground coffee in, that's the entire point. If the machine is dead cold, it takes maybe 60 seconds to heat up and run through the rinse cycle. If the machine is on standby, maybe 30-40 seconds. If you wait longer (10+ mins), the water will be hotter.

    We are constantly told by coffee "experts" that in making espresso a very high quality grinder is priority number one. Are we now supposed to believe that these dinky little built in grinders with an amazing 12 step adjustment are up to the task of producing a consistent espresso grind? Which is it? A $400 stand alone grinder is barely good enough or an entire $400 super automatic is good enough?

  • @973reggie

    @973reggie

    4 жыл бұрын

    gblan Yeah nothing is consistent. The word ‘espresso’ means something different in this video then a video talking about a ‘setup for 200’ dollars. In that video, 400 dollars for a machine and grinder was being treated like barely trying. Just not consistent..

  • @JS-ji5fl

    @JS-ji5fl

    A super auto is like having a limited espresso grinder with a basic pressurized portafilter machine. So, a $400 price point is adequate for what you get. The grinder is only 12 steps, not 30+ that average espresso grinders have. But in reality, these super auto machines dont need to be that specific since they act like pressurized machines.

    They use ceramic burr grinders, about 2.5" in diameter. Mine is 9 years old and I just serviced the grinder. Took the machine completely apart, removed the grinder and cleaned the ceramic burrs with a brush. It still looked like new, barely any wear. That being said, I don't understand why people expect a $400-$500 machine to perform like a setup that costs $5000+. Your cheap Chevy Cavalier isn't going to be an S-Class Mercedes. You get what you pay for.

    I wound up giving mine away because the coffee was disappointing. It's very well-engineered, makes coffee quickly and easily, and the steam wand makes great froth. I really wanted to like it. But the coffee didn't taste as a good as the coffee I get from a drip maker or semi-automatic espresso machine (or a Melita pour over or Aeropress or moka pot or French press). My family thought the coffee tasted fine so maybe I'm just too picky, but for me the coffee wasn't worth drinking and the machine wasn't worth the counter-top space.

    It's all about the grind setting, the water and ultimately the beans. As soon as we switch beans, the difference is immediately noticeable, good or bad. Been using our Saeco superautomatic for 9 years and we are very satisfied with it, even though the pump has failed twice. If you're a total coffee snob, perhaps the result will never be to your liking, but I know we enjoy ours and when we have coffee elsewhere (friends, restaurants, etc), we usually find their coffee is not as good as ours.
