🇵🇭 Philippines vs England 🇬🇧 Foreigners See Things Differently 😲
As foreign immigrants in the Philippines, we see things differently than Filipinos do. It's fun to realize what you notice about each country as you spend longer and longer periods of time away from the place you were born.
In today's vlog we show life on the beautiful island of Siargao and simultaneously we show our home towns in Great Britain. The contrast between the two lifestyles and how we feel about that.

Story has grown up so fast I remember her as a baby ,she's a beautiful well respectful little girl❤❤❤❤❤God bless your family.shes enjoying her vacation but I'm sure she misses Daddy and her loving doggie now❤❤❤
I can understand where J is coming from i.e. immigration. I was born and raised in Manila. but now lived in England longer than I have lived in the Phils. I also had the opportunity to acquire a higher education in the UK in addition to my degree from the Phils. There are definitely differences between the two cultures. However, I have learned to embrace the English culture without losing my Filipino culture. I find they complement each other and have something to learn from one another. For me, it's down to the basics of human traits, kindness, understanding, caring, respect, consideration, accepting what is and not comparing the two, just awareness of the differences and transcending the conflict that may arise from those differences. I don't consider myself British or Filipino. I am ME. it's my spiritual journey and I am continuing to learn.

I live on Siargao. It is no longer a remote island. It is slowly becoming a very touristy place for local Philippines holidaymakers and foreign backpackers to come to. Lots of the local Filipino surfers born and brought up on the island now have blond foreign girlfriends. The island is now getting more and more crowded as the days go by.
Such beautiful insights from Jay about being on his own and how he perceives his birthplace.
The U.K. is where I was brought up. As I am English Scottish and NZ-Kiwi. My dad is English my mum is a Kiwi. So as an adult I have lived in the UK New Zealand Australia Spain and Phuket. Now I live in the Philippines. Are are some good things about the U.K. but in my opinion I will never ever move back to the U.K. to live. Out of all the countries I have e lived in Thailand and the U.K. are the 2 countries I would never want to live in e er again. The 2 countries I would like to live in again are Australia and Philippines luckily at the moment I live in one of them the Philippines. None of these countries are by any means perfect.
You guys are doing a fantastic job of blending the 2 videos. Your wonderful people. proud to be a member.
You could bring it back to the garage and let them dispose of it. It just proves to you that parts are really been replaced. They will gladly take it for disposal.

You cannot compare mechanics there in siargao back to ur place, siargao is i believe a 3rd class municipality, and skilled workers are very hard to fine!
One thing every foreigner should know when going into another country is to never bring the whole idea of comparing a Western culture and be shocked about it. You immerse and adapt to the culture with no expectations. Philippine mechanics differ from places, but generally some Filipinos would want to keep the old parts specially the ones that can still be re-used.
I hear the change in Story's accent picked up from her cousins. My daughter's accent and manerisms used to vary a lot according to who she was hanging out with most recently. Very interesting how they do that.
Don’t you just love British weather 4 seasons in one day ❤
Makes sure before any repairs, let them know you don't want any of the old parts back and they will dispose of it. Also, here in Manila specially when I go take my vehicle for repairs or change oil they do a complete job! I have not seen them leave anything for me to put back. Guess your dealing with a barrio mechanic in the place like that so you get that sort of service. It varies where you go. Here in Manila, I don't even feel I've left the US really except when I realize I have a Jolibee in every corner. LOL
Bath and Cotswold both beautiful. They are my favourite places for a long weekend get away. I am here in England for over 35 years now and very lucky living in the countryside of South Oxfordshire...❤
Would you be able to ask the garage to dispose of the old car parts? Or would that be considered rude? Every time I see you driving through the Island it just looks like pure paradise 🌴🥥 Thanks for the video ❤❤ I can't wait to visit Philippines 😊

If there's one thing I wish we had more of in the Philippines, it's PARKS. UK parks are beautiful. We only inherited the Spanish tradition of plazas, and plazas don't really work that well anymore now that towns and cities are becoming so much bigger.
Story enjoys the best of both worlds ❤ Enjoy girl ❤ Take care ❤
Been to Bath and its beautiful in there especially where the Roman bath and relics are...a lot of history learned.
Just because that’s how it’s done by a business in Siargao or any other town doesn’t mean it’s how it’s done everywhere in the country. You need to experience it many times more in many places in the Philippines before you can say “here in the Philippines…” about something.

@@Maryhilton-ws6ol That would mean that if his only experience is topnotch service in an expensive shop in an ultra-modern area of a big Philippine city (and there’s many of those) it would be correct for him to typify that quality of service with “here in the Philippines…”. Inspiring video.
Car repair services on Siargao Island cater to the diverse needs of vehicle owners and tourists. The island's repair shops provide essential maintenance and fixes for various types of vehicles, ensuring they remain roadworthy and safe for travel. While the services may not be as advanced as those found in major cities, the skilled mechanics on Siargao are known for their resourcefulness and ability to tackle most repair tasks. Visitors and residents can trust the local repair shops for their automotive needs, contributing to the island's vibrant and self-sufficient community.
Take care jay. We know u missed them both. ❤
Love all your videos , I have been watching for 2 years ❤️❤️🎈🎈
it's one way of letting you know that all the parts they charged you was replaced , in the US there's no way of knowing if you are not mechanically inclined. sometimes they charge you for rotating the tires but if you marked it you'll find out they did not do it. :)
Watching from Germany.

I'd love to take my daughter to that playground one day! Was it in Devon? All natural, wooden... Nice contrast to the super bright plastic play areas here
The reason they do that is some owners wants to know the work is done and they really replace the broken parts. I remember when i have my car done here in Las Vegas and i was asking tge mechanic to save the broken parts for me and he look at me like why😂

You can actually give it back to them for disposal, they don't mind disposing it for you. But the other issue, that's problematic for us having used to "complete" service culture in the West.
In Manila & Cebu they finish everything. Maybe because you live in a small island and everything is shipped to the island.
That is insanely contrast uk vs ph

the parts returning to you thing is? that there not reaping you up.. they put the new parts, taking the old and broken parts...the not finishing part? is just being lazy...
Shout out guys, In here in London, everything changing the bills too high food so expensive now!Even though we work so hard our salary is not enough.
There are some businesses that buy those metal scraps. Some Filipinos collect them and sell. My nephews used to go around the neighborhood in search for scrap iron, bottles, cans, etc. And sell them for few pesos to buy snacks. That was when they were in the elementary.
Some people want the broken parts back to understand they fixed the right one. Maybe to avoid a problem with the customer, they give you back the replaced parts. If you don't like to take it with you. Tell them to dispose it for you.
They do that in the U.S. They will give you the old parts. So that you will know they did change the broken parts. Some mechanics are not honest.😊
@ 4:33 I'm just curious why do you buy coconut milk in pack when you can have it fresh from the coconut tree? Siargao does have a lot of cococnut tree, right? Just buy "Kudkuran" or borrow from Papang! 😋😃

I don't think it's the norm of the mechanics in a place like island Siargao to do that kind of service. city mechanics in that country have their own way of doing things. 😅
they just need to show you the parts they change and fix..
you should take that back and ask them to put it back , i am plilipino and i had took my car to a mechanic and its their responsibility to put it back , you should learn to complain if things not working right

If you can get solar in the philippines why doesn't everyone have it there? I need to ask my Filipina friends. Here in America Ira difficult because the government regulates. A lot of times its not cheaper or they stop giving you credits or it's not allowed. I know in Oklahoma they don't allow it. It's so stupid. Why? Because they loose money. So greedy they are. I never thought about solar in the philippines. Good idea
