Part 1 in Pastor David Guzik's audio lecture series, expositing and teaching through all of Paul's epistle to the church in Philippi: highlighting the need for Christian unity, the radical nature of Christ's love and sacrifice, and the implications such truths have on believers to this day.

Pastor David, Every night I read from my Bible verse by verse and afterwards, I listen to your audio or watch a video of you teaching on what I read. Tonight was the first 2 chapters of Philippians. I’ve read these scriptures many times through the years, even reading verse 21 at my Daddy’s funeral; but tonight while reading verses 20-26, I started crying. Almost as if I could feel Paul’s longing to be with Jesus, yet also knowing there’s more work to be done. I read them again to my husband when he got home and got choked up again. Then we listened to your description of the word Paul used, how his longing was so deep, aching to be with Jesus. I’d never grasped the depth of his words before and now I know why it had me crying. Since I’ve been following you, you have made the Word of God seem as if I’m there in real time with everything I’ve heard you preach on. From Matthew until now. God has truly anointed you; given you such an amazing gift in your ministry for Him. I thank you for your obedience to serve and I continue to pray for you as you continue to reach and bless others sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I really appreciate David Guzik for one thing, whenever he is quoting from commentaries, he is always mentioned the name of the commentator unlike some other pastors. David this is very humble of you. You even help in sign posting us to read those commentaries. Remain ever so empowered in Jesus Name Amen.

WOW! For once I’m reading Philippians 1 and I understand for certain what a rich letter Paul was writing. Thanks Dr. Guzig! Now I need to pray that God will help me be not only a reader but a doer of this rich letter.

12:36 love the clarification Pastor David makes here.. that God's deliverance via the prison break through was not in response to their praise but in concert with their praise. This clarification here brings me so much freedom to praise God without a formulaic approach..i.e. praising God for who God is vs. praising God at midnight to replicate Paul's breakthrough or Paul's formula and outcome. I'm grateful for this clarification among so many other things. Thank you. Ok..let me continue listening.

Some people are not going to be made perfect by Hoseas children ,we are not made perfect without the heros of the faith. pray for bloodline curses to be broken , and for He who has begun a good work ,in us is not by any power but by Jesus in whom is all light. God is good and isnt tempted to sin.

Pastor David, does suffering for His sake really include things like cancer, mental health difficulties, insecurity, etc which are unrelated to persecution for faith in Jesus and for Gods sake? I feel, as you say, abandoned by God, but encouraged by your words. Pray that i may live by trust in Gods word (not feelings) and that i can bring Him glory even in the sufferings which are 'selfish' rather than being persecuted for Him. That gives HUGE encouragement, and purpose to suffering 'normal' human/life things. Is this "fruitful labour"? Thank you for all your teaching n may God reward n bless you as His faithful servant.
