yes, screwdriver heads get worn. Time to replace it with a new one. The geometry of the head itself will never be the same no matter what you do to it

Maybe not but it works so much better than slipping out of a screw

@@dustyguy no, not maybe. The geometry of the head isn't the same, definitely. Now that it's been ground down, reduced in size, and reshaped by hand, it will simply wear out unevenly with regular use

This is a great idea, I've been sharpening phillips head drivers for decades, no sense throwing them away. But you need to match the angle very closely or your results will suffer. It's easy to get the angle wrong. The original point is 57 degrees. If you use a sander or grinder (highly recommended) just draw a line approximately 29 degrees on the tool rest, this will help a lot.

Thank you dusty guy. I have s sneaky suspicion that you are related to Henry Phillips. Henry Frank Phillips (June 4, 1889 - April 13, 1958) was an American businessman from Portland, Oregon. The Phillips-head ("crosshead") screw and screwdriver are named after him. Thompson who, in 1932, patented (#1,908,080) a recessed cruciform screw and in 1933, a screwdriver for it. May the gods of all craftsmen (and some women) world-wide bless you forever and ever AMEN.

I was trying to make a reference to looking at the phillips screwdriver at the end point because it LOOKS similar to facing a wagon wheel. + Like this
