Virtuosity of Rory & Gary Moore, raw power of SRV & Jeff Healey and funkiness of Lenny Kravitz=Philip Sayce. He just needs to release studio albums more often and a label that knows how to promote him.

I think he needs better lyrics because they aren't catchy, and a better producer who's good with vocals in general because he does alot of unnecessary things with his voice... He always got away with it because his playing is so good. But for Radio etc. No.

Many great musicians don't want what comes with being a superstar. For one important thing for me, that means playing arenas. What a massive hassle and awful experience visually and audio for the patrons. Theatre or small venue so much better and the artists knows this. Also touring in a luxury bus rather than airports all the time is simply more relaxing. 100 shows a year not 250. I'm certain this guy and many more like him are worth a few million... many people love some money but have no need for excess wealth. Probably most importantly this guy can walk down the street without body guards. Nobody really knows him. That is likely the biggest thing that keep musicians balanced. I don't know why you say he is cooler than Joe Bonamassa... Joe is so good. They have some differences I guess I can agree with that. They are both awesome from what I have seen. Joe is pretty damn cool.

@@liamerick7262 Pah! Then one would have to say that SRV was blatantly derivative of Hendrix and Albert King. 😈 Look, if you play high-octane blues-rock on a Strat you're going to sound something like Hendrix and/or SRV no matter what you do. Jeff Healey was a massive influence on Philip Sayce due to the time they spent playing together. I certainly hear a bit of that in his playing. Sayce is a wild player, constantly pushing the limits of what his technique and equipment can do. SRV was a much more controlled player, absolutely brilliant at what he did but never giving the feeling that he was pushing at his boundaries.

I'd disagree with Old McMetal though. Bonamassa shouldn't be judged on his regular band output, which is a bit bland, safe and sounds like he's aiming to corner Clapton's market. The three-piece stuff, Rock Candy Funk Party, Black Country Communion and the jams are where Bonamassa shines these days.

My point exactly! As a long-time musician owning lots of gear when I encounter talented artists/bands I can't help but want to ogle their axes/gear/technique/stage presence, and Rockpalast also has great stage lighting - which was also hard to enjoy CAUSE YOU CAN'T F-IN SEE IT LONG ENOUGH! Buzz kill. Not to mention ensemble moments for unisons, endings & medleys... That said I can say this young man has got it for talent! Where he come from? And, as usual, the Rockpalast must run the heat 24/7 as Philip was drenched in sweat, just like Joe Bonamassa et all(!)
