"Philadelphia Basement parging: Cementing, Waterproofing, and Painting the Walls"

Philadelphia Basement Parging:
In this Dependable Concrete video, we showcase a project in Narberth, PA near Philadelphia, where we transformed a dark, peeling, and dusty basement into a clean and bright space. The basement walls near Philadelphia were initially exposed stones with deep pockets that allowed rodents, insects, and moisture to enter the basement. We repaired and waterproofed the walls with a flat, leveled surface painted in bright white waterproofing sealer.
Before applying cement to the basement walls in Philadelphia, we took care to protect important elements such as electrical boxes, pipes, windows, and electrical wires from any splatter that may occur. This was to ensure that these critical components were not damaged or impacted by the cement during the process. Additionally, we used a waterproofing barrier on the lower wall to protect our work and keep the basement dry.
To renovate the concrete floor in Philadelphia, we removed the old and thin floor, which allowed us to pour a new 3-inch floor with a strong 4000 psi concrete. We also installed a vapor barrier on the floor base to prevent water vapor from penetrating through the floor. Using a pump to move the concrete was a more efficient method as it saved time and reduced labor.
We applied two coats of cement, the first being the scratch coat, to the walls using a mortar sprayer. We sharpened all corners and edges to enhance the appearance of the finished product, which resembled a drywall-like look. To ensure that the paint bonded well to the wall for a long-lasting paint job, we allowed the walls and floors to dry out completely before proceeding with painting.
We used high-quality Sherwin Williams paint specifically designed for use on basement walls to give the walls a professional and long-lasting finish. We sprayed two coats of this paint to ensure a smooth and even coverage that would resist wear and tear over time. To ensure that the new concrete floor was protected and looked great for years to come, we used high-quality floor paint that could withstand foot traffic and other wear and tear.
We have successfully completed this project, and our clients in Philadelphia are thrilled with the results. The basement is now rodent-proofed, waterproofed, and free of dust, providing a clean and safe environment for our clients to use. The walls are now flat and even, thanks to several coats of cement, and the floor is smooth and leveled with straight control joints. We are pleased to have been able to deliver a high-quality finished product that exceeds our client's expectations.

I cant wait for my estimate in May!🎉❤
Damn that was a lot of work.
You cant stop water from the inside you can only redirect it. Probably should install a mat drain system to a sump. Hydraulic pressures will always win.

They’re not waterproofing, they’re making it structurally sound. These houses are over 100 years old
Well there wens some beautifully stonework....who needs history
I wonder around how much a job like this cost.
Great job! It would be nice if you left links to the materials used. My opinion is that there is a high level of groundwater near this house, and if so, then this basement repair is a temporary matter. The reason may be in the drainage or sewer system.

No those walls were built in 1914 before the IBC was even written
Nice job. How much a job like that cost on smaller basement approximately

in my experience, something like this is about $10,000+.
Perfect if you can sell it
Is this required before framing and sheet rocking basement walls?

I recommend securing the foundation walls first
What did this cost?
Great job but I'm surprised having a open dirt floor you didn't dig down to the bottom of the footer and drill holes in the blocks and lay pipe/stones and send it to a sump and then pump it out.. Thats how I did my basement and its dry.

When you drill holes in the block the water goes into the French drain right ?

@@DependableConcretehow much should this cost to have done? I have a basement in one of my rentals that needs to have the walls resealed. It's only about half that size and not near as bad, just want to get it done before it gets worse.

@@ThaStonedGardner do ur research. This isn’t what any basement needs. Stop and say to ur self. I gonna water prof something on the inside? Once water gets to the inside it’s already done did the damage to walls footers floor. It’s worse to trap water like this. Better off directing water to a out somehow if u can’t waterproof on outside. These companies are out of control and any code enforcement should never let these types go on
