philadelphia apartment hunting | with rent prices and neighborhoods!

The time has come for me to find a new apartment! In this video I'm sharing 4 apartments I toured in Center City, Rittenhouse Square, Washington Square, and Fairmount/Spring Garden with rent prices included. Spoiler alert... I applied for one of these! Which one do you think it was? Leave your guess in the comments :)

As someone who lives in Philadelphia I think you chose the Washington Square apartment, because it has two bedrooms and you work from home. It’s so close to where you Live now and it’s still central.

I enjoyed your video of apartments in various neighborhoods in Philly. I do have a dream of relocating to Philly since I loved it there when I visited back in May 2023.

The fourth one has so much for your dollar however, I’m predicting the third apartment due to location and life convenience. I’m from Philly and live in the South. I plan to move back to the city in a few years. :) This was very helpful. Cheers!

I don't know that Fairmount is really that far from Rittenhouse Square. I lived in Fairmount in 1988-91. I rented a large room & kitchen in a house on Corinthian street, across the street from Eastern State. I loved it because there was no row of houses on the other side, so my 3rd floor apartment got tons of light, yet I had plenty of privacy. I could leave the shades open any time I wanted, really. And quiet because there were no houses on the other side. Always plenty of parking! At the time I worked in 2 Logan Square, usually rode my bike to work in less than 15 minutes. The only drawback to that neighborhood was that at the time there was no decent grocery store nearby. I used to go over to West Philly to do my shopping! Also lived near 9th & Pine, in the early 80's.

This was great to see. I've been living abroad the past five years and will be moving back to the states in 2024. I was living in Massachusetts but I'm not doing anymore New England winters. 😉 My best friend lives in Philly and I'm debating between Philly or Columbia MD. My friend doesn't know anything about rentals as she owns a townhouse in the Manayunk area but likes the city center. People slam Philly but I love the arts scene and all it offers. I also would need two bedrooms. I work from home and need office and business storage space.

@@sarahlynnirving Wow.... You learn something new everyday. I have never in my life seen that. I've lived in 2 states... 3 if you count my small stint in Cali... and apartment complexes always have 'model' apartments for you to tour... so that tenants are undisturbed. I wonder why that isn't done in Philly. Not saying that the Philly way is bad... it's just surprising...and I'd like to know the reason behind it.

@@Ayumi649 a model apartment would only be available in a high end complex. The vast majority of apartments in Philadelphia are row homes or mid tier multi-unit buildings, not luxury enough to have the space for a model unit.

Interesting how some people have a showing but just can't seem to find the energy to straighten up the place. Not sure how you discuss apartment costs without including utilities, parking, the list goes on...

@@sarahlynnirving If this is all about YOU finding a new place, why not say what YOU might be paying for things other than rent. That's a very important thing to know. Viewers are smart. They can then approximate based on your particular situation. It seems a major point of the video is describing what moving to a new place (whether it be you or someone else) is going to cost. Nobody rents without knowing those add-on things I mentioned. And if if you don't have a car you could say but if I did parking would be..... since clearly the subtext of this video is the viewer projecting themselves. Maybe next tinme. Having said all that, with the exception of what you left out, this is a well-done and a effective resource. It remains interesting to me in any event how a landlord or subletter showing a nice apartment seem to ber pretty okay with the place looking like it hasn't been straightened up in a month or so, if ever.
