He's probably going with Satch because they're friends and of a similar age. He knows very well that there's lots of people who can play Van Halen far more accurately. Of course I also wish he would hire one of them though.

Phil X is too big a star now for b circuit Van Halen tribute . Hagar had no choice but get Satriani or another 90’s guitarist like Vinnie Vincent .

I honestly never really have seen much more out of Phil x than good copy till this . Not sure how much preparation went into this but I bet quite a bit .

It is really the 'swing' in Edwards playing that is so hard to nail and Phil X just has IT!!!!! Unreal!

Couldn’t agree more with the comment on his swing. Being able to maintain that feel in his rhythms from such a young age is just wild. It has to be from being brought up in a household run by a big band leader. So many VH tunes are written with a swing feel. That set these guys apart and made them a party band as well as a hard rock band. And yeah, Phil smashed this.

I always knew he was a great guitar player… but that was mind blowing 🤯

Dweezil is so underrated! His Inca roads solo (from the dvd) is prolly my fav. solo of all time!

I've never seen a guitar player have more fun doing what he does, than Phil X. He is a geek to his craft and a true pleasure to watch. And, he seems like regular down to earth guy. The world needs more like him.

Eddie would have been 69 this past Jan 26. What a great tribute to The Master. Phil is a devoted disciple and it shows.

I've been watching Phil Play since I was literally a kid looking at Fretted Americana videos, this is the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen a cover of a VH song where I can say Ed would be impressed, until now.

Back around 1990 in Brampton Ontario, I was at a party with a basement jam of some really good working musicians. Phil, who was a friend of homeowner, walks in, straps on a guitar, steps up to the mic and blows everyone's heads off with a Stevie Wonder tune. People are looking at each other asking, "Who is this guy?" He was, and still is on another level.

This man's enthusiasm is a large part of why he crushes it all of the time. Like a baby playing with a puppy. Phil X

Phil is the perfect definition of a rock star, he plays guitar like a virtuoso and is one hell of a singer.He also as the looks, a cool stage presence and seems to be a down to earth kind of guy.

Seriously…there is nothing Phil can’t play. He is absolutely freaking mind blowing. Phil is a force of nature. What a treasure. 😊

Hes a beast of a guitar player and very fun to watch he can play so much stuff to me as guitar player hes one off the best as song writing i tot respect his thing but is just not for me but he still one off my favourite guitar players to watch and Phil X is the reason i only play stand up and to put much less gain so i can hear my dinamics on my playing. Phil X Rocks 🎸❤🤘

What's really really cool about this solo is if you listen closely it's tons of Ed's licks all thrown in a blender. At first you might say well he's improvising over Ed's stuff but it's really tons of Ed's stuff brilliantly put together.
