Phil's Rotary's Junkyard Parts: RX2/Capella, RX3/Savanna, RX4/Luce, 323/Familia, etc...
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It was by chance that I came across the "wrecking yard/spare parts warehouse" known as Phil's Rotory's. What I found there was more old, RX Mazdas that I had ever seen in Japan. (Except theRX3. I've seen a bunch of them in Japan.) In this video I give you the full tour of the place. There're rusting bodies of old Mazdas, plus boxes upon boxes of old parts, plus just old parts upon old parts. Amazing.

I like these videos because I miss wandering around a junkyard dreaming about what I could do with the cars I see
Oh my! So sad to see so many Rx2's and Rx7's dying slowly! I know they help save countless others but always hard to see.

Thanks. Their recent news is they are re-making RX3 coupe & sedan bodies & selected other parts. If then means people will tub/destroy these instead of the old ones, I'm all for it.
Sad to see all those those poor Mazdas withering away. But that is a proper recycling yard. I would have a field day rummaging through those parts shelves.

G'day Dan'l. Back in Australia, eh? Awesome collection of Mazda cars and parts. I remember much of the cars from when I was a boy. I remember the 1st and 2nd gen RX7. Although I've never owned or driven a Mazda of this generation, I've known people who have owned or driven some of them. I've seen only a couple of Mazda station wagons, here in the USA, was known as the Mazda Rotary. I've never seen a wagon version of the 323/GLC (Familia). :)

Do you not see cars like that in Japan because they are so old and odd they aren't saved? Or were they only exported from Japan? Your enthusiasm for cars is infectious. Keep the great videos coming!
@wasabicars
6 жыл бұрын
I think there are two main reasons. One, the weather is just too corrosive in Japan, and that's why there are very few actual wrecking yards.99.9% of old cars (10 - 15 years old) just get scrapped. Two, the general population just give a crap about older cars. They just scrap them and buy a new one. Funnily enough, people who do hang on to their older cars, can't get parts for them. Hmmm... I wonder why? You may not get the impression from watching my videos, but old-car culture is all but dead here in Japan.

As a 323 wagon owner from NZ. WHY does Japan not have 70s and 80s Mazda?? What's the reason there is no info on them??
@wasabicars
2 жыл бұрын
Hi. For some context, I've been living in Japan for 20 years, and going to car shows *very* regularly for the last 10. To answer your question, it's not just Mazdas. The Japanese want new cars in their driveways. Cars at about 10 - 15 years exported or crushed. They don't even bother stripping useful parts. Out with the old an in with the new. This has a knock-on effect for people wishing to hang on to their (still useful) cars in that it gets very difficult to source parts to keep their cars on the road. That's I guess the short answer.
That red coupe with the white hood (bonnet) at 7:45 looks like a Mitsubishi Starion. Am I mistaken?
