A big thanks to Phil Kaye (he/him/his) for being kind enough to share an unreleased poem with all of us today!
Beautiful piece. I like to imagine the boy and the mom as the two bills personified. Even when she asks for them back, they are still where they've always been
Didn’t think I’d ever cry at a poem written about forty dollars.
I don't know if it says more about the poem, me, or how well I've been sleeping lately, but this one got me good. Teared up quite a bit. My roller coaster and sense memory quotas have both been met for the day. Thanks
Phil is my favourite.
phil is one of my favorite internet people, tks ours poetica
Floored. Phil your poems bring about the beauty and the heartbreak of growing up. Thankyou for sharing this.
This made me think of a time when I did the same thing. I was about 10, now I am 61.
