This is one of the best videos ever. I find new things to laugh at everytime i watch it. Personal favourites are "jackal magalomaniacs", "gwind it out", "making money on MY MIND" and "I amplify, do you!?" Phil hellmuth is a genius, everyone should follow this advice imo.

man, i build my bankroll using college money too. I got financial aid from school and used that to build up my bankroll. I'm a part-time tutor. I started with 100 bucks and played poker as hobby, made myself over 1500 bucks. Ever since then, I kept 1000 in my pocket and used 500 and made few thousand bucks. You get 3-4k per semester extra from school. That's more than enough to spend 3 months even after all the expenses.

Some of it really does make sense. In internet it's a lot easier to overbet overraise. Slowplay is a good strategy, but excess of slowplay is fertile soil for bad beats. If you wait with your Aces untill the river, like someone else said, you got some considerable chance to be beaten. If you slowplay Aces in a multiway pot, that's even worse.

of course it is an excellent chance to double up. My point was that, esp. newbies, tend to overvalue AA especially when in a multi-handed game or in lower limit games where players don't want to lay down their AA while ignoring what is on the board. Maybe this is over your head, wiseguy, but it is a critical concept especially for new players.

What do you do when holding KsKd on a board with 3 or 4 clubs etc and facing a huge raise or check raise? i will check raise those boards all day with or with hitting anything. There are many many boards that can scare big pairs out of the hand, no? Heres some fun, next time anyone cbets the flop in a 2 or 3 handed hand check raise x2 or x3 with nothing, if it doesn't work do it again next hand, if you do that ten times with nothing? you will probably get 6 or 7 folds. Good luck mix it up.

I actually got started playing reading his book and he's a great teacher! I even had his fits of rage when I lost to "inferior" players after getting into their heads! :D Seriously though, Hellmuth's brand of poker works just like Hansen's. When you have someone marked on FE and lures them in by hand-outs only to hit them with a monster, it's a pretty darn effective way of winning a lot quickly. In terms of long time strategy and sanity though... meh. Better to play solid.

You are dead on. He is an excellent player who cannot accept that poker is still a game with uncertainty and chance. Chance does not mean random but it does mean that even AA in the hole will still lose 67% of the time to a full 9 person table. Phil's immaturity doesn't seem to grasp that even poor plays and players will win some hands and will often knock him out just for bragging rights.

Ok so you know how to play the game, the odds, how the board fits with your hand etc etc but I reckon the main thing is getting a good read on your opponents tendencies. Eg don't ever fold a big hand vs me just because the board is scary,, the fact that it's scary is most likely the only reason that i'm betting it. I will bet at it or checkraise with nothing at all not even a draw. I might not even look at my cards if I see that board before looking at them. Depends who is in with me.

So would I but I would not necessary take that hand all the way to the river. It all depends on what the community cards are and my read on my opponents. Watching the final 2 tables at the latest WSOP provide ample evidence that AA is not a guaranteed win. It is all about probability, which means "in the long run" a certain hand, such as AA, will win more often than any other hole cards. I just wanted to make it clear the AA is not a guaranteed winner. And newbies fall for this all the time.

And trust me, i got free bankroll from online to play on absolute. I barely made 500 bucks using bankroll management since i don't really like playing online. But I know it's not easy to build bankroll online, especially with 50 bucks. Durr was just a teenage with 50 bucks in his pocket, unlike phil, who's from rich family with lot of financial support, if not from his parents, then from school.
