That's a great comparison. I personally prefer Phil over Coleman for his completeness and his symmetry in the back, but I would definitely bet on Coleman in a competition. Even if Phil would manage to capture the 8th title, Coleman would still remain as the king.

I had the honor briefly seeing Phil Heath in person in 2013 right before the Olympia. Phil had on a sleeveless black T-Shirt and I shit you not his arms were so round and full that they looked like inflated balloons. He had paper thin skin and so much detail that it looked fake. I’ll never forget this I remember staring at his huge calves and literally seeing 3D feathering through his calves the most jaw dropping thing I have ever seen. I know some people say pictures don’t do justice but HOLLY FUCK. The Gift is definitely the perfect nickname because that man looked like mutated perfection 😂 I truly believe Phil at his best is the 1 guy that would’ve gave Ronnie some trouble. If Kevin Levrone and Ronnie Coleman had a baby it probably would’ve been little Phil wrapped in a blanket 👶

yeah, synthol has that effect, make them arms look like balloons. arms are too disproportionate with the body, im sure he used some synthol. all the 90's guys used it and lately admited, synthol dont need to be obvious.

I heard someone who has seen both and he said something very similar to you about Phil. The paper thin skin and balloon like muscle. Ronnie though, he said also has thin skin, crazy veins and shape and most importantly, looked 2ft thick. It wasn't close in terms of being impressive as Ronnie was inhuman. Phil was closer to a "regular person ballooned up with big arms" As I interpreted him anyway on just the last sentence. That part wasn't verbatim. Ronnie looking inhuman and 2ft thick was though. His actual frame is just much bigger and he holds more muscle. Ronnie has a level of thickness that even Phil can't match, but he did it on a bigger frame with his own style of crazy detail and shape. He's like mix of the a lot of the best of Phil and the best of Kai, on a frame bigger than both of them. Kai and Jay often looked monstrously thick next to Phil. Their frames were just bigger and they held more weight. Ronnie was a level above both of them in thickness and overall size.

I haven’t commented in a while. This is the best Phil vs Ronnie. And still Ronnie’s size is unbelievable.

Why does everyone seem to think Ronnie only has size on everyone. He was the biggest,most dense AND the most conditioned on stage. Ronnie basically had no weakness other than his ab insertions and even then he was so wide that his waist appeared way smaller than someone like Phil heaths or jay cutlers

It's hard to understand how big Ronnie was in person he was insane it seemed like he had a good 50 lb on anyone who stood next to him and his lats crushed them...

The comparison definately doesn´t do Ronnie justice. Phil would look even smaller on a real stage. Ronnies ribcage is twice as big. Even his arms were way bigger than Phil´s. I can´t understand how someone would rate Phil over Ronnie. It´s not even funny.

@@novicelifts5197 there is even a video of Coleman past his prime with Cutler where Coleman measures at 23,5. In his prime he had an easy 24 inches. He simply was a bigger man than Heath. But believe what you want.

Marx what I always liked about Ronnie’s triceps that’s rare to find is his inside head (tricep part closer to body not horseshoe) are super round and bubbly. When he’s walking relaxed from the back his arms look bigger than any bodybuilder I’ve seen. Even in rear lat spread you can see how big his arms look from the back as much as from the front.

@@rodiperez7918 I'm one of those guys who finds Ronnie highly aesthetic, so we all got our opinions. Phil has more detail and pop in his back though but I prefer Ronnie's width and overall shape. I'm not overall a Phil fan but he is amazing in his own right obviously. Ronnie's gut and triceps, at least in the side tricep are his Achilles tendon

Love your content. You should compare their head size rather than the height for size comparison. Mike measure Phil against Jay and then measure Jay against Ronnie.

I personally think that Ronnie Colemans best physique ever was at the 2001 Arnold classic. He did a photo shoot for a magazine right after the Arnold classic and they said they had to alter his photos to make him look "smoother" because they thought his crazy condition would be too much for people. Lol

@@monsoon1174 The Rear Lat Spread is a width pose not a detail pose. Unlike the rear double bicep, which is more about details than width. Hence, width is a must have while details is just an extra. Ronnie is twice as wide as Phil and would thus win the pose. This is what it says about judging the rear lat spread: "The Rear Latissimus spread is primarily about showcasing the athlete's Latissimus (Lats) mass, figure and broadness development from the rear."

It's so evident, and that's why Phil's able to turn this pose on its head. You can tell me all day that detail doesn't matter, but I just get blown away each time I see Phil's lat spread.

ronnie has the v-taper, the striations in his chest/triceps/glutes, the vascularity in his biceps, the overall mass and looks just as shredded as phil in a relaxed pose as phil does flexing in the relaxed pose phil's back is more dense with lots of cuts, his shoulders look like cannonballs and his traps are massive, his upper chest is next level plus he has a tremendously idiotic smile at 12:07

Dorians displayed very well the front, not to mention his small chest and arms didn't take up and of the viewing space of his lats. Dorian I think mostly looked more pleasing in the shot but Ronnie just destroying him everywhere, Dorian would have only been able to compete in the lats, and calves but who cares.

The width and chest difference is nuts.

To me Ronnie is better in the rear lat spread. Phil is awesome too but as a lot of bb would do, he really leans back to make his lats pop out. Ronnie is just there standing straight. You can notice how different their stance is by checking the angle of the bone between their traps. AND it doesn't seem to count in your book but the glutes !

I felt Phil's best physique definitely beat Ronnie's in terms of size x lines and aesthetics. But in terms of size x muscle quality x conditioning, Ronnie was untouchable. The size he was able to get while still keeping a fairly tight waist, and reasonable aesthetics at his best form is still the most insane package ever put on a bodybuilding stage.

Phil takes this with room to spare. His small tight midsection with Kevin Levrone 2.0 muscle fullness, symmetry, better distributed mass with pristine conditioning and aesthetics with virtually no weak points, beats a grossly muscled, bloated looking non symmetrical Coleman. That 2 inch gap in the midsection of Coleman with slight distension just doesn't get a pass here. I'm not interested in The King Coleman cheerleading narratives. I respect Ronnie Coleman and I hope he can rebound Healthwise but Phil Heath especially in 2011was pure perfection and likely the best physique for a Mr. Olympia win since the Olympia was formed.

Ronnie slays in the rear lat spread. It's fucking silly how separation between the last and teres is how we judge a back lat spread. Phil's lats were little in the pose, Ronnie's were not.

The scaling on the first comparison is so off

The camera angle, lighting and stage presence matters alot even the cameras weren't as good back thn. Still, for me BLS, SC, STri phil is winning these and BDB, FDB, FLS ronnie is winning these. A&T didn't like anyone's MM is debatable maybe. But, ronnie would win if both were in same era. Too big, conditioned and genetically more gifted.

I still prefer Phil, just better symmetry. Pity Coleman blew out his midsection. He had great abs (the black and white shot) perfect body there. Size game spoiled that perfection he had. Phil too. Not training abs it will get you in the long run. Most guys today don't train abs and rely on diet to show abs. Some don't even train calves. 🍗🍗 They focus more on hip thrusts🤦
