FC Porto don't play much shorter passes, its more direct football, maybe switching that to normal would be more acurate to what Porto likes to do with the ball. Apart from that, the tatic seems accurate

I’m not aware of their tactics in liga nos and admittedly the only exposure I’ve had to Porto was watching them play vs Chelsea yesterday. But what struck me was the almost catenaccio system they appeared to be playing. When Chelsea was in possession they were essentially playing a 6-3-1 with the back 4 becoming extremely narrow and the wingers dropping back to the full back positions. Do they often line up like this when playing teams in the league? Or at least against Benfica / Sporting?

@@Skegfromcraigslist Nope, they are almost always offensive and playing a 442. I've seen them play a 5 man defense maybe 4 or 5 times and only once against Braga.

The full backs should obviously be wing-backs as they give all the width. The left mid as a wide playmaker is correct but it should be on attack and the left center mid on support as Otavio (left mid) advances way more than Oliveira (left centre mid). Otavio is the main criative player along with Corona, Oliveira has a lot of goals due to free kicks and the extraordinary amount of penalties they have in Liga NOS. Both outside mids should have the instruction of sit narrow. The right striker (Marega) should be a Target Man and the left striker (Taremi) should be a poacher. Team instructions are all wrong. They play from the back but they play way more direct than what is portrayed here. Run at defence is correct. Direct passing should always be on because they often use the direct ball to Marega. They overlap left and right and they pass into space. Transitions are their bread and butter, both offensive and defensive, so counter and counterpress should be on. They have much more difficulties against teams who stay back than against teams who play from the back and try to press them. They always try to impose their physicality into the game as they are a physically dominant team, either by strength, by running more or by making more fouls. They always distribute quickly and they use Marega as their focal point a lot. That's mainly it.

Theres no flair, no beautifull play, only goals from penalties (20 this season), corners and so... this is the most corrupt club in Europes history of football. Their tifosi this year already invaded a trainning fild of the referees and trash some their buinesses. Portuguese intern football is rotten and the peopple who run this club is the cancer for the past 40 years, just go check some of the news.

First of all they only scored 15 goals from penalties. Scoring from corners takes a lot of work, and you can't say that it's not beautifull football. Beauty is subjective. I personally like to see Burnley and Porto games, I like that style of play. Yes indeed Portuguese football is corrupt, just like every other league. I fell hate on your comment but I still respect your POV
