Phenomenal!: 1950's Standard 'Cadet' (British Version) Single Trap Close Coupled Syphonic

Happy New Year everyone, may 2024 be full of syphonics and rarities!
It's only fitting we start the new year off with a bang, and I can't think of much better than this.
This is in a hotel I've known about for many years, but hadn't had the opportunity to go visit until recently. There is another room with a jade green Armitage Ware 'Universia' reverse trap syphonic, which user Hawk No_486 has filmed previously.
We have a gorgeous and supremely scarce 1950's Standard 'Cadet' single trap close coupled syphonic in Corallin Pink. This is the first one found in the wild due to how rare they are, they were withdrawn in 1955 so didn't really have a long run, plus they were only supplied with 3Gal cisterns, meaning quite a few water boards wouldn't allow it, it was also overshadowed by the popularity of the 'Neo-Lux' and 'Vedet' reverse trap syphonic suites (The 'Vedet' being introduced the same time the 'Cadet' was withdrawn). The pedestal design is very similar to the US 'Cadet' of the same era, but that's there the similarities end. This British version doesn't have a syphon jet, flushes clockwise, and of course has a horizontal waste outlet to fit British plumbing.
It is interestingly mismatched with a similar aged Alfred Johnson & Son Ltd. No. 306V 3Gal cistern, which was designed for low level suites. Sadly inside, the ballcock and syphon are very recent replacements (a part 3 plastic ballcock and Dudley Turbo 'Edge' syphon) however the handle is original. The seat is old however not original or matching to the pan, and it is so chunky that annoyingly it wont stay up. The basin is also Alfred Johnson & Son Ltd.
It has a beautiful and almost hypnotic flush pattern, with a high water line pretty much unheard of on this side of the Atlantic! It also has the iconic 'Cadet' type flush sound, finishing in a deep glug! As usual I've put together a few different flushes, including a paper flush, all in 4k UHD :)

It sounds like our Standard Cadets of that generation here in America. And the water sloshes a bit before the gurgle at the end like ours, too. The trapway in the bowl is shaped differently though. And our toilets exit into the floor instead of the wall (unless they're wall-hung).

Yesssss!!!!! That is amazing! Thank you for going out and getting this legendary toilet :D Ah, It had a part 1 before :( I heard it stuttering away. And the cistern replacement is deffo good imo. I've replaced the cistern on the Armitage Ware close coupled from the hotel due to subsiding cracks with a Standard Sanway one.

Cheers, I wanted to go here for years. Had a feeling it used to have a part 1 :/ and for some weird reason they swapped the side the ballcock is on too, so now it's squashed awkwardly on the left hand side of the cistern

This is absolutely AMAZING as just yesterday I was watching a video from the United States with a 50's/60's Standard Cadet (in pink) featured also - a US spec version with bottom pan outlet and left side cistern flush handle. This is such a rare find to find a British Spec version with horizontal pan outlet and best of all it works just like the American one - just with the water swirling 'Clockwise' and no siphon jet hole in bottom of pan! Bit of a shame the cistern is not original but it works well though! Hope this one stays as it is so rare now!

So they also made that toilet base thing for it too... Great flush on the Classic Cadet.. This brand managed to bring 2 common US toilets to UK adhering to UK standards here..

This sanitary room creates an ambivalent impression. On the one hand, the use of plumbing fixtures from the 50s, and even the original pink color, produces a pleasant aesthetic sensation. But, on the other hand, some questions arise regarding functionality. We see a shower stall equipped with a hot and cold water mixer. Consequently, water comes from the shower head at an acceptable temperature for washing. At the same time, the sink is equipped with separate hot and cold water taps. There seems to be some contradiction in this. It is clear that such equipment of the sink is a tribute to the traditions of Great Britain. It is probably not very convenient to use such a sink in a practical sense. You need to plug the drain hole with a stopper, then fill the sink with water at the required temperature, operating two taps, and only then use it. Moreover, you will have to wash with water that has already been used for washing. The only thing such a sink is convenient for is washing small items of clothing, such as panties or socks. Another consideration concerns the toilet. The entire toilet bowl is filled with water. It turns out that during use, when solid excrement falls into this bowl, a splash of water occurs. It can be unpleasant and unexpected when delicate and sensitive parts of the body are suddenly splashed with cold and dirty water from the toilet bowl. In general, many technical questions arise.

The separate taps on the basin come from when buildings hot water supplies were fed from a tank, meaning it was non-potable, so they kept the taps seperate from the cold potable feed. In general by the time you've washed your hands the water isn't too hot to touch, depending how good the boiler is and how far from it the tap is. Also the splash of water from the high water level, if had my ass splashed by washdown toilets just as much haha

A very rational explanation. If the incoming water, for example, is hot and cold, have different pressure, then the use of the mixer can be difficult. It is clear that you can wash your hands or face in such a situation without any difficulty. In general, I understand how it is arranged and applied. The splash of water in the toilet, no doubt, is undesirable. I had seen the toilets constructed in such a way that everything falls on a special horizontal surface, located above the water level. Then the stream of water is already washing the material in the sewer. This is practical, for example, in order to be able to take tests. Such toilets were called medical.
