UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has announced the opportunity for students who have completed their four-year degree to directly pursue a PhD (with 4 years degree by UGC NET). In order to facilitate this, UGC has stated that students who have completed a four-year degree are eligible to take the UGC NET exam to pursue a PhD directly.
In the recent announcement, it was stated that candidates who have completed their degree and are currently in their final semester can apply for admission as eligible candidates to pursue a PhD. They must have obtained a minimum of 75% marks or an equivalent grade in their four-year degree. Additionally, there is a provision for a 5% relaxation in marks for candidates from reserved categories.
