Pharoahe Monch feat. Black Thought - Rapid Eye Movement

Фильм және анимация

Pharoahe Monch's Forthcoming PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) LP Will Be Released On 4-15-2014
With his highly-anticipated fourth solo-LP, "PTSD" (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Pharoahe Monch re-emerges with a new concept project which finds the ground-breaking emcee tackling PTSD; a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. Throughout the duration of the LP, Monch narrates as an independent artist weary from the war against the industry machine and through the struggle of the black male experience in America.
Pharoahe Monch has been at the forefront of lyrical innovation for two-decades now. Not only is he one of Hip-Hop's preeminent lyricists, crafting intricate rhyme schemes and intelligent raps, but he is also an incisive political and social commentator, using Hip-Hop as a platform for political engagement.
Rapid Eye Movement featuring Black Thought of the Roots Crew, and produced by long time collaborator Marco Polo is the next look from the album and is a lyrical barrage worthy of these two titans.
Pharoahe Monch's "P.T.S.D." (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) will feature guest appearances from Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Denaun Porter, The Stepkids, Vernon Reid and production from Lee Stone, Marco Polo, Jesse West & Quelle Chris.
You can now pre-order Pharoahe Monch's "P.T.S.D." at iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/ptsd-po...ress/id791461203

Fahim Adnan Big Pun, and Big L I agree.. but, Nas & Rakim couldn’t hang with these caliber of lyricist; different lane. These are wordsmiths, lyrical assassins, and different breed.. Their rhyme patterns are insane, and multi syllabic/transitions, how they play with the timing, and bar count? Insane.. Nas & Rakim are more substance, Nas being able to balance both nicely is a what makes him one of the GOATS.. but, they couldn’t hold a candle to these emcees.

ildivino10 You clearly are incapable of deciphering Black Thought's verse if you assume that Pharoahe Monch is being humble here. Black Thought's verse was full of 5%er theology and lyrical gold in general. 'I bare arms like button downs without the sleeves, manic depressive and possessive like apostrophes' 'Black is as miraculous as Jesus of Nazareth, when I vocalize the crowd rise like Lazarus' They are both top lyricists in hip hop. On this particular track, Black Thought had the edge. Pharoahe Monch got out shined on his own album. To reiterate, considering that Black Thought is a veteran I don't think that Pharoahe Monch would have to be humble. Intricacy existed in both verses but Black Thought's verse is contender for verse of the year along with his verse on "The Imperial". Black Thought's verse on "Birds Eye View" was verse of the year 2013 and this one right here is verse of the year 2014.

My point was Pharoahe has claimed that he has received many L's and is a very humble dude. Now if he had said, Yo, Blackthought is the first person to get me I would have looked at it with more credibility. Black Thought is on my mount Rushmore of MCs, I respect his talent, delivery and incredible lyricism. He definitely added to this track. When Monch says: The opposite of Mephistopheles' eye inside an isosceles, Sent to Earth to warn of environmental atrocities, and nobody can copy me, his internal rhyme scheme is just on another planet and these quadruple rhymes are near perfect. His use of alliteration, as I mentioned originally is just another example of his poetic rhythmic flow. Now content wise, Monch was compiling multiple scattered concepts which reflect his artistry: Comedy, Grew 5 times my size; Social Political, The MLK Man United ref plus aforementioned bars; Bullet Personification, With an arrangement of bullets that I've arranged. I respect Black Thought, and you, but lets face it, Monch is the best lyricist, has the best catalogue, the best rhyme schemes and is better live. The Roots were great, but the band are more critical to their performance than Black Thought, Pharoahe just kills it with a mic.
