Lila Angelique And the fact that he cried made it so much more real. Erik isn't just sad that Christine left him, he's devastated and heartbroken. He's not going to just sing the last line, he's most likely going to be sobbing because the one light left in his life left him and he know he's alone again.

It's Michael! His interpretation is mesmerizing....He is Erik!

No one can do this one like Michael. Some you could even say have stronger voices or a cleaner vibrato, but that emotion...listen to how he chokes up on the "can" part, iys utterly beautiful and devastating

Same...it's even sadder if you know that this particular audio was taken from his final performance.

The problem I'm noticing with a lot of phantoms these days is that they use way too much vibrato. To me, it drowns out the melody and the subtlety. It kills the tenderness.

Agreed 100% I can’t stand actors who make your ears bleed with too much Vibrato.

He's not my favorite, but I love the way Earl Carpenter's voice resonates holding that last note. It sounds so satisfying.

This song makes me want to cry 😢 I went to see this in London and I love it I hop it stays in her majsty therta

Gotta go with Michael, my fave. Oh, and I think that particular clip was from his final performance as the Phantom in the LA production, so the emotions were especially high there.

Davis Gaines was heartbreaking. That wasn't expected at all. It was good. And I love John Cudia's like every time. Of course, Michael Crawford's hurts me too. An expected happy pain. But Ramin Karimloo, even with low sound, is just.... yes. The man can sing.

For me, my favorites are Anthony Crivello and Michael Crawford.

Peter Joback was my first and favorite Phantom, I LOVE his voice and seeing him live was incredible. He was the only member of the cast who really impressed me, my jaw literally dropped when he sang this...his whole performance blew me away

I can hear his voice in there but that must have been an early clip or the person that filmed it had a bad camera. ;)

This part made me ball even harder after I read Leroux's book because (SPOILERS!!!!) he dies in the end. I know in this version he "mysteriously disappear" , but I always assumed he knew he wouldn't be able to take it anymore and that's why he said the music of the night was over. "I COMPOSE THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT." someone hold me, I'm sad :'(

@@muchomarco5 no such think. another story, another time, nothing whats so ever to do with Phantom. Only Michael can do Phantom. He said once that each song is a play, He is an actor and he just goes into that song as a play. He is the finest singer I have ever listened to. I never saw him in Phantom except on YT. I saw him perform the MALW in Buffalo on his 50th birthday and in London in Wizard (three times in one weekend). He is a master.

I dont believe he died.Not because of LND but because why would he bother escaping if he did? I like to think he gets his shit together, somewhat anyway. At least he has now been shown some love and compassion. Maybe that helps hmi hold on

Michael, Barton and Ramin are my favorites :)

Ramin Karimloo, John, Cudia, Earl Carpenter and Scott Davis are my faves!

For heart-wrenching, soul-touching, I have to stick with the master, Michael Crawford. For pure vocal ability, I liked John Cudia, Ethan Freeman and Davis Gaines. Cute as Ramin may be, I just don't find his voice as attractive as many of the others who have played Phantom through the years. That said, Peter Karrie was abominably bad, and Peter Joback is pretty awful too. How they were cast, one must certainly wonder.

I dont agree, Peter Jöback was great, not the usual boring sound, he has a Wonderful emotion and a great actor, thank god you dont cast them, the Phantom would die out real fast if it all was the same

I know this post is almost a decade old but Peter Karrie went an octave higher than the usual norm and made it apart of his act, I know his style is.....a bit out there but he plays it to perfection and I think you need to give him another chance. 🙏🏻

And to me Michael Crawford’s voice is the most beautiful. We all hear things in a different way. I am glad you have Phantoms that sing to you.
