For those of you maniacs/sadists watching, take heart, about an hour in I realized if I held down Enter the combat would go much faster, so the gameplay speeds up as the video goes on.
I suspect this video will get very little to no attention: I posted it mostly for myself and posterity. It's a complete playthrough of Phantasie, a pioneer in the CRPG genre, from 1985. It's one of the first CRPGs I was ever exposed to, and for sure the first party based CRPG - though I played it on the C64 back then.
Yes, the Amiga, Atari ST, and C64 versions are better with better graphics and sound. Dealing with the emulation and the clunkier interfaces just wasn't worth the hassle to me. Also, the Phantasie Memorial Set is avail on Steam and GOG currently, so if folks really wanted to (lol?) - they could play as well.
I actually think games like this are begging for remakes. They are small and pretty simple, but the core gameplay loop in a game like this, even 40 years later, is pretty fun.
As a note, as character creation is very tedious, the video omits that phase and I started when the party was created and ready to roll out.
I sincerely hope someone out there enjoys this.

EGA graphics certainly brung me back. Bards tale was my favorite on our old 486

I did my playing originally on the C64, which looked better, but the interface was definitely slower with the joystick primary controls - For this playthrough, I decided just to use the DOS version available in the Steam/GOG collection now. I definitely loved Bard's Tale as well. Ultima IV was/is probably my favorite old old school RPG, though Pool of Radiance a few years later is another great one. Thanks for checking out the vid!

Kaz the Minotaur and Raist the wizard. I understood that reference.
